What are your thoughts on the Diezel VH4?

KT77's in the power amp.
Can't remember what's in the preamp.
They may still be the stock tubes. Diezel was using good tubes in 2017.
My amp has a crap ton of bass. Enough for me anyway.
Bass on ch 2, 3 and 4 is between noon and 2 o'clock. Deep is @ 10 o'clock.
It thumps like a MOFO.
The '24 VH4 I had briefly had the most insane amount of deep room thumping low end ever. Was nutso.

This is my 2017 vh4, purchased new from Diezel by me. The white wire is the negative feedback. The amp came stock with the white wire connected to the middle set of output jacks, which are 8ohm.
I moved the wire to the 4ohm jacks, as shown.
Its not a huge change, but it took a really good amp and made it a great amp.
A little brighter, a little more sizzle, and less compressed feeling now.
Still have it .View attachment 425924

This amount of bodging on a $4500 amp is crazy.

If I use 6L6s the amp has more bass but it depends also on preamp tubes. it's smoother and ut has mor harshness, EL34s are more aggressive but they don't have the bass of the 6L6s. I usually have bass and deep at 3, never boost the amp, presence and treble based on the cab. With the Mesa OS it's brighter, with a straigh 1960B with 2 greenbacks on top and V30 on the bottom (16 ohm) it's way darker. If you one day pull out the chassis, take some pics. It0s interesting to see how they changed in 2 years.

I have kt77 s in mine again and though it’s slamming it’s best with 6l6s . It’s amp I can’t sell. It hangs with anything . My only complaint is my channel 3 sounds exactly like tool how I set it up . I had to change it

Peter Stapfer, a fantastic guy, suggested me (and he's right because I tried it on mine) to use chinese preamp tubes with KT77s or 6L6s because they are smoother, Tung sol with EL34s, to tame the harshness of EL34s. I also tried a Sovtek LPS as a PI and it sounds good, a JJ, only one, in V3 and same thing, mixing them based on the position and wat you're after is a good thing, following their specs is even better because they test them a lot before choosing something.

I just do what I think sounds best . I just hate the kt77s they come with . The 6l6s makes roar even more . And on my two Herbert’s I did the same . But on Herbert’s even though Peter says no to kt 88s I stll think 4 6l6s with 2 kt88s is pretty sweet . And I don’t like kt 88s either . I love Diezel but fuck I hate kt77s more than any tube . They just are bland for me . IMO

Well, ihe placed the mic dead center, not even with the darkest amp I would do something similar. Really bad move for a demo. It doesn't represent the amp at all. I have a 2015 and sounds nothing like that.
The newer models sound different than they used to.
