What do you use for Quick Recording?

I've got a couple of handheld digital recorders with a pair of stereo mics built in. One is a zoom handy recorder (4 track) and the other is a Yamaha. They both sound great. I use it when I want better quality than a phone recording and also for sampling noises in the world to use with my samplers..
 
Interesting thread, is there something that I can get with an adaptor that plugs right into my phone to use for a quick recording?
I know it will be far from ‘studio quality’ but is there something where I can use say, one of my 57’s that uses an adaptor that plugs into my iPhone?
