This is exactly what the problem is, yet for some reason it never seems to be addressed in a meaningful way. Most people will agree that two of our biggest issues as a nation are the influence of money on politics and the self-serving, entitled nature of our politicians, yet we continue to support candidates who don't address these issues. Anybody who's platform is focused on these issues is largely ignored (see Buddy Roemer for a good example of this). Now we're left with Obama and Romney, neither of whom will do a damn thing to fix what's broken. I have yet to hear either of them vow to fight the Citizens United ruling or attempt to impose term limits on congress...two things that would go far in restoring a modicum of sanity to our system. Rather, they will continue to pander to their electorates (they were described well in an earlier post) in order to retain their power and influence. Neither party has this nation's best interests at heart...its all self-serving and has been for quite some time and we play right into it...lather/rinse/repeat. Vote for a major party candidate this fall and you've just voted for more of the same.yeti":3ulc5ago said:it's funny..each year, it's a new agenda.....the past year has been bullying. now, the hot topic is gay marriage....

Until Americans can put aside their personal interests and unite to fix the system, we'll continue down this path of corruption and non-representation. Anybody who still subscribes to the thought that "a vote for a third party candidate is a wasted vote" is a part of the problem.

everything. here's a few key points:rupe":6jsn1cdv said:Huh?kiff":6jsn1cdv said:I hope that you guys bashing the citizens united case, that probably got caught up in the big "corporations are people" red herring, realize that you are advocating government bureaucrats should decide who has freedom of the press... and would even ban books from those that don't have such a "privilege" bestowed upon themWhat does CU have to do with freedom of the press?
"michael moore good!"The nonprofit corporation Citizens United wanted to air a film critical of Hillary Clinton and to advertise the film during television broadcasts in apparent violation of the 2002 Bipartisan Campaign Reform Act (commonly known as the McCain–Feingold Act
During the 2004 presidential campaign, a conservative nonprofit 501(c)(4) organization named Citizens United filed a complaint before the Federal Election Commission (FEC) charging that advertisements for Michael Moore's film Fahrenheit 9/11, a documentary critical of the Bush administration's response to the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, constituted political advertising and thus could not be aired within the 30 days before a primary election or 60 days before a general election. The FEC dismissed the complaint after finding no evidence that broadcast advertisements for the movie and featuring a candidate with the proscribed time limits had actually been made.
During the original oral argument, then-Deputy Solicitor General Malcolm L. Stewart (representing the FEC) argued that under Austin v. Michigan Chamber of Commerce,[13] the government would have the power to ban books if those books contained even one sentence expressly advocating the election or defeat of a candidate and were published or distributed by a corporation or union.[14] In response to this line of questioning, Stewart further argued that under Austin the government could ban the digital distribution of political books over the Amazon Kindle or prevent a union from hiring a writer to author a political book
Justice Kennedy's opinion for the majority also noted that since the First Amendment (and the Court) do not distinguish between media and other corporations, these restrictions would allow Congress to suppress political speech in newspapers, books, television and blogs.

see what i did there?

Flavor of the decade, surely you can't be serious. I don't see the comparison between one of the best metal shredders of all time and a guy who just runs his hands up and down the strings while stepping on pedals in every song. That's a joke of a post of I ever saw one... You may as well compare Randy Rhoads to C.C. deville.
Every now and then I'll enjoy some RATM but not if I want to hear anything remotely technical on the guitar. For the most part, now that I'm older the whole premise of that band and everything they stand (stood) for seems like a joke and is such a political whine fest I can't stomach it.
