This year or next year I plan to snag a BE100 for $2k if all goes as planned. As stated I can buy yesterday's hot ticket for half the price used today.

I don't forsee needing too many more amps tbh.

I do want to build a 2203/2204 down the line. I can't justify spending what a used JCM800 costs now and get one that has been molested ten times. I would not mod it though tbh, I would want it original and true. I have the modded Marshall flavor covered. Especially if I were to snag the BE100.

As of late I am in love with my Ktre and K100 for a lot of things. They are damn cheap for what you get
As cool as the Splawns/BEs/Ceriatones can be, they just aren't a Marshall. None of them truly cops the Marshall feel, and midrange. They are nice amps but just different enough to me from the real deal to not own one. And I have owned BEs and tried a Nitro(way to sterile) and Quickrod(don't care for the mids) to compare to. Owned a Fortin Ceriatone which was cool but again, just as happy with the original.

Rivera are great and underrated amps. There's a TBR 1SL at a GC for 999. Great amp.

Just sold one of my favorite amps to buy an arcade game. Well worth it.
It’s just material things.

What'd ya get? I've been looking for a standup Tempest game....would spend hours playing that in the arcade back in the day.
Yeah. 1500 games in one. And it’s in a old a Tempest arcade machine!
Dude that is sweeeeeeet!!!! Do you even play guitar anymore with that around?

I do agree, JMP's and JCM's are their own beast, but most of what I play the Splawn, Rivera, and down the line BE100 is more of what I shoot for as opposed to the classic JMP/JCM thing. That's just me and my style, but I would love to have one too though.

It's a great time to be a guitar player; we have so many different amps/guitars to choose from.

That is a truth and a luxury indeed. There is more out now than ever.

Back when my ADD was on "10" and I was in a band and gigging, I would chase tones, change amps, etc. and unfortunately it didn't do anything but make money vanish from my wallet. I do more research now, am more hesitant to make a big purchase, etc.

My Friedman JJ Jr. is a good example. I've wanted a Friedman ever since the "Marsha" days. If I was still gigging I may have grabbed one back then but being a bedroom player now, I can't personally justify a 100 watt amp. When I watched a few clips of the JJ. Jr. on YouTube, and saw how it could be used for direct recording without a cab, came close to the JJ tones, etc., I made my move. So basically I compromised a bit.

I think the idea of an amp being worth the price depends on how much the person uses it.

You can buy a good amp new, for 3K or more, and be happy with it all the life. Probably is cheaper then swap gear, even if buy always second hand.

First things first.... You need to get rid of the your signature under your posts. It's not 2005 and nobody lists all that stuff anymore.
Huh? What? Are you kidding me?

Exactly. WTF.

I trimmed some off as it was longer than I realized when I was on my cell.

I was busting your balls cause your post take up my entire phone screen.

You can shut off sig lines in your control panel.

Could but don't want to

The last couple of years I've been through a LOT of amps, a number of which would be considered high end/pricey (ie $2500+ retail). At one point I was starting to feel guilty, but thinking about it more...chasing tone is a hobby I really enjoy. I always buy used, and occasionally end up taking a bath on a sale, but for the most part I've made my money back when selling (a couple times even made some extra).

The most stressful thing about it these days is finding buyers. It seems like even 10 years ago, 100w tube amps were popular and you could feel a little better about throwing down serious cash. These days there's just way more hesitancy and low-balling going on. Either way, I love guitars/amps and if my hobby becomes more expensive so be it. Life is about finding balance while pursuing things you love, and there's a reason I drive a cheap car!

I have never, and will never pay more than $1500 for an amplifier.

Yeah, I'm a notoriously budget conscious gear head. One of my favorite amps costs $89 off the used floor. A speaker replacement and ain't nobody gonna complain about that tone.

Sure, sure, plenty of people turn their nose up when they first see the ugly bastard, but one chord and smiles all around.

I don't begrudge dudes that want and can afford the $4k, $5k amps, but some part of me ends up confused by hearing them and thinking you can get 99.99% of the way to the same thing with a decent Marshall and a boost. But like I said, I'm not gonna rail against them or say they've done something wrong. So long as you can plug into it and bring the goods, I don't care if you're plugging into a potato or a gold plated boutique diamond encrusted god-level amp. Likewise, if you twiddle and can't hit a chord to save your life, you're gonna sound like ass regardless of what you're running for an amp.

I like people who buy $3-4000 amps. Then when they sell them, I pay much less. :)

Let's hear your story how u bought a SLO100 for peanuts...

I know my amp threshold. Personally I'd never go over $3k for an amp. I have some expensive stuff BUT, I got them new at about used price range at the time I bought them so there's that. I think it's funny how upset folks get the way others spend their money. Just because "we'd" never pay that much doesn't make the other buyer an idiot. People will pay whatever they are comfortable with. When I bough my BE-100, there was not 50/100 Deluxe out yet. I got it new from SW for $2600 shipped. It was a floor model that was mint. To me that was a fair price. They were about 2300-2450 + shipping used. It was worth the little extra for new.

I think you could still score some amazing lunchbox amps with that money and they're all the rage now!
