I have a pick up that likes to move around a lot as in rock back and forth, I just changed the springs and no difference. Any advice would be much appreciated! Thanks.

Maybe it is a crappy or cracked pickup ring? Swap that out or try some medium density foam under the pickup. good luck!

You could substitute medical tubing for springs - that's a little more stable.

Small foam block under the pickup :)

What I would use, as it collapses it will not wobble as much.

Yup. Also helps with feedback as it stops oscillation caused by vibration that can occur at high volume. All my bridge pickup cavities have foam stuffed in them so the pickup doesn't move at all.

Guys,

I appreciate all the suggestions. It sounds like foam is the way to go. Any idea where to get this? I'm having trouble visualizing what this would be. Are we talking styrafoam or the pink stuff you sometimes find in packing materials? Would I stuff the cavity tight with this? Thanks and sorry to be a pain but this is driving me crazy.

I usually use the foam that typically comes with the pickup packaging ala Duncan and Dimarzio. The items you mention should work as well but may be a bit messier would could ultimately lead to scratchy pots, etc.

Now this is why I love Rig talk, a bunch of people who love music and know their shit. Such a simple solution and worked perfectly!!! Tighter than a...well you know. Rupe, good suggestion. In the Suhr packaging was all the foam I needed! Thanks again to everyone, another one solved. Now on to the perfect tone question, how do I get that?

Oh my God, and what a difference in the sound now that it isn't wobbling all over! This 2nd degree is from the Gods!

I know the OP's problem is solved, but this is what I use for all my pickups. SOOO much better than springs IMO.

Hey Shane, are you talking the hard plastic stuff or the flexible stuff?

Cantrell mod, BE, HBE, full clean, and effects loop. It also has the modern and saturation switches. It's en route to Dave right now to get a second set of master and gain knobs that will be footswitchable (along with the clean channel and the loop). The amp sounds amazing.

Holy crap!!!! That is going to be unreal!!! What is the deal with the Cantrell mod, I've been debating sending my KS back for it. How would you describe it?

I use hobbyist hotglue. Lay a bead between the pickup ring and the pickup and on the springs. The stuff comes off fairly painlessly as well. Cures pickup howl as well.
