Hey Guys,

I have been offered at Ibanez Jem floral pattern that is like brand new with papers, plastic still on the back plate etc... I know allot of guys are into these guitars and it is cool looking I guess and plays great. This guy wanted $3999 which was crazy!!! He has sobered up now and I can buy it for $1950 which I think is what they sell for. That said this one is in crazy clean shape where the other ones I have seen are banged up. Serial number starts with a "99" whatever that means. Is this a decent deal and should I buy this thing?

They were made in 1989 and 1999 I believe, of course the 89 has more mojo :D

$1950 if it is that clean is a good price, not killer but good.

Mojo? Did those guitars come with a free case of hairspray? :D

With the floral pattern aquanet is not needed, you have it going on already just by slinging it :D

My first thought, if it's actually perfect, was $2k or near it.

Mint shape, that's a good deal. I've always dug the way Vai/Ibanez laid out the JEMs marketing/appeal....the collectors really get a kick out of them. It reminds me alot of how Michael Jordon and Nike worked together to build that Jordon/23 product line.

If you plan to collect them, the Floral is a pretty decent starting point.

Brad,
is it a 77BFP, a 77FP or a 77FP 15th anniv.?

EDIT: I'm becoming blind because I missed the "Serial number starts with a "99" whatever that means" part. :D :scared:
It's a ´99 Jem77FP then and my *guess* is that the USA prices for mint ones with all the case goodies are around the $2k if I'm not wrong. That was only a guess because I haven't been checking jems in ebay a lot during last couple of years but I think Scott and Gene has more knowledge on this price matter.

Collect? Who Brad? LOL. Dibs on the Jem when you sell it Brad! ;)

99 JEM 77FP mint. I think I will try to pick it up for $1800 or so for the hell of it.

If it's indeed mint, that's a hell of a price. The only thing that ever keeps me from buying used gear is the wear. I like to be the one who breaks in a guitar.

$1800 for be a good score and could recoup 2-400 on the resale.

Dibs!!! That's one of the only Ibanez's that I like

Mint condition with all the candy and a non-faded case etc. probaly around $1900...you could score it for lower if he wants to sell it :D

They are fantastic playing and sounding guitars..bnus if it has nice flower placement on the arm rest and headstock..

I sold my first mint one for under $1k a while back.....

Brad, check out this site for quite accurate used Ibanez prices:

http://www.ibanezrules.com/used.htm#JEM

Those prices are high in my opinion.

Pete

Rich's prices on used stuff is high in my opinion as well, people buy from him as he does set up a mean playing guitar and is trusted but he is high.
