What is with all these damn kids?

Well that's just it...theres thousands of these internet kids that can mimic guitar playing but are not guitar players. You see it everywhere...limitless resources on how to do copy something. I believe anyone with average motor skills can learn anything with hours of practice when its shown to them. Doesn't make them a musician...just a well trained monkey. lol
Then you have the small percentage of kids that have talent...they show up once in awhile. Like that kid they used to call smoking Joe.....Bonnamassa was his last name I think lol.
They are out there but most of them seem retarted when they actually try to play something other than the 4 or 5 songs they spent endless hours on learning in their bedroom with all the tabulature, instructional DVDs and online lessons. ;) I cant speak for everybody and I don't want to sound like an ass but Im just saying what seems to be the trend these days.
On the other hand now a days you have all this information at your finger tips and talented individuals can really profit from this when they use these tools in the right way. Make leaps and bounds extremely fast...much faster than us old farts that used to have to rewind cassette tapes back and fourth trying to figure out guitar leads and what not, but man did that help out with ear training big time! lol
Like someone said true experience there is no substitute for...for everybody that took the wrong road and got back on track but learned from it. Rant over....Happy New Year BTW!!!!!

I think its cool that kids can play the stuff we did as kids. Just goes to show you the lack of quality guitar playing that came out since.

One thing sort of related is if the kid enjoys that stuff himself or if its just his dad living the dream through the kids eyes. I hope its not the later as kids need to have their own identity and styles to choose from. Basically just because us older guys think its cool, it may or may not be cool to younger kids ;)

That is the part that SUCKS! What do the kids of today have to aspire?

Yeah my thoughts too. Nothing like doing the hard yards and learning by ear. I don't think most people understands what they are actually playing, in relation to key or mode.

Seriously? They're like the biggest "indie" thing to come out of the rock scene in a while... All the guys in the band are well established musicians, the guitar player Russ played in one of Rob Halford's solo projects, the singer Ralph did stuff for L.A. Guns at one point... A few of them met while playing in the Atomic Punks together, went off and started an 80's cover band for a bar on the Strip... The Whiskey or something... And when that relationship ended because they told jokes and had really crude personas with dumb 80's stage names (Satchel, Michael Starr, Stix Zadinia, Lexxy Foxx) they stayed together, changed names a few times and started putting their own songs in their sets and eventually got a few records out...

Check em out, Feel the Steel and Balls Out are what they have out now and even if joke bands or 80's butt rock isn't your thing the musicianship is crazy good and the music videos are worth a laugh

Well if it's progressive metal there is plenty of it coming from Europe that gets ZERO attention here in the USA.

Just a quick search tonight and I discovered these 2 bands that I never heard before.
