When I bought my first C+, it sounded really great with the Mesa 440s...then I read about the magical Sylvania 6L6GC...I bought a few RCA branded Sylvania 6L6GC and got really lucky with the both of them biasing up right in Mesa range at 32 or so....my first chord with these tubes was unreal, just an absolute eargasm..that's when I knew the USA tube legend was real.
Omg you are making me gas so hard for a C+ right now!

Got the bid in on the GEs, although I expect to be eBay sniped into oblivion as usual lol. Doing some research on some of the new production stuff, I heard the manufacturing equipment and some of the old stock materials from the Kentucky GE plant were sold off to China and now they are making a “similar” model under the Ruby name. Not sure how reliable they are, but if my JCM 800 has 500+ v on the plates like your ‘82 then the Ruby’s could be a decent alternative, or at least a placeholder until I get the real deal.
