What program are you using to record?

Cubase 5.something. Been very comfy/happy with it for a long time and it runs great on my PC, there's been no reason to experiment with other stuff I guess.

Pro Tools 10... I tried "easier" programs but I guess I'm used to PT's layout and functions.

Ableton Live

Reaper

Reaper is a bit daunting and weird at first..It's like the linux of daws..once you set up custom key commands and shortcuts, it's blazing!

I sold my Nuendo licence for good coin once i got reaper doing what i needed it to do.. I suggest buying Groove 3 " reaper explained " videos, there great and easy to understand..

Mac Protools HD5. I think it all depends on what you do and if you do it for a living. In the circles I run everyone is mac pt and we are able to all work anywhere, it's more a commercial studio thing.

Nail, head, hit it.

I use Logic Pro 9 and Garage Band (very awesome little piece of software that comes FREE :D)

I see reaper getting stronger and stronger.

And I understand the Mac+Protools setup for commercial Studios.....if I was running a com. studio I'd also have Pro Tools, it's just easier and faster (in a world where things where due yesterday always)

Reason 6. Really easy to use!

But I'll have to give Reaper another look. I last tried it 2-3 years ago. Went to Record/Reason and stuck with it now that all the recording and instruments are integrated into Reason 6.

Recording Protools HD
Writing Logic
everything else Sequoia

When I need to send files to some one that uses Cubase/Nuendo or Reaper I'll open it in those to check that everything is cool.

PT Is the industry standard If you are gonna get good on a program why not the pro standard one?

no love for Adobe Audition, formerly Cool Edit Pro? :)

i'm just an amateur, mostly VO work & guitar overdubs on demos, but i've been using Cool Edit since v1.5.3 fifteen years ago.

I am using Sonar X1. I have been using the Cakewalk products since 1993 and update every other year or so. I went through all the Cakewalks and all the Sonar producer Editions.

I have to say after all these years of using these products, I STILL HATE THEM!!!!!!!! ARRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH.

They are just constant creativity killers. Something always gets weird or goofy and I spend 30 minutes trying to fix it until am sick of looking at the program and turn it off.

I should look into Reaper. Will my half finished Sonar projects open up in Reaper?

Kind of how I feel about Sonar. It's not a bad product but so sensitive to system changes. I was bought a Logitech PC Cam and the drivers caused all kinds of problems for Sonar. But once you get 3 or 4 versions in, you kind of force yourself to stick with it and get your money's worth. I installed Reaper on my PC and immediately liked it better. When I bought my Mac, I got a sealed version of Logic Express 9 for about $100 so I tried that. I may still install Reaper on my Mac though.
