I have a quad of new G12H-75's and want to put together a cab that's geared for down tuned metal. has anyone here compared them with a mesa recto OS vs standard? or would there be a better cab choice?

Unless something has changed the standard Rectifier cab is the OS. The smaller cab started its run as the Stiletto 4x12, but is now called the Rectifier Traditional 4x12.

I had a Traditional 4x12, and it was a killer cab. Insanely over-built, with an immediate and punchy sound.

I'd go with the smaller "traditional" cab. I had the OS/standard and didn't like it. I have a quad of H75s in a Bogner cab and it sounds fantastic. I think a regular sized cab is the way to go.
Thanks for sharing, I have a super Hi 50 as well. what's your go-to cab with that?

My Bogner rear-loaded 4x12. Been using the H75s for 10 years at least. But I have two other Bogner cabs, one with new UK Greenbacks and another with Heritage H30 55Hz. But I haven't had a chance to try the Super Hi with those yet.

very nice. appreciate the info. I have 18, 4x12's currently. and ended up happiest with matching my Super Hi with a Laney LA412 supergroup loaded with 8-ohm Fane F70's the tone I get with it always feels like lynch/kiss of death.

Man I've been wanting to try Fanes with the Super Hi. Just haven't pulled the trigger. Hiwatt offers their cabs with Fane F75 (not F70) or Purplebacks.

18 4x12's dang man, that's awesome and let's see a pic of the family!
Don't have one pic with all of them but here are a few. the 2 with the 5153 are actual Kerry Wright cabs.

I don't have a Super-Hi 50, but do have a Custom 100 that I used with a Soldano SLO pedal, or KMA Wurm 2 for high gain tones. My favorite cab with it is my Bogner 4x12B copy loaded with alnico EV SRO12's, and Fane Medusa 30's in an X pattern.

I've also got a JCM800 4x12 Bass cab loaded with vintage G12-65 (55hz) that's my 2nd favorite with it.

The Medusa was a great speaker!

I'd go for the traditional (regular) sized one, never been a fan of the oversized it always sounded hollow to me for some reason. The only oversized cab I've heard which sounded good was the ENGL one.

I have the ENGL XXL with Mesa V30's I like it. it's a nice alternative to the Mesa OS. I'd like to try a coffee cabs LUNGO with redbacks but, with the world the way it is right now, their hard to get. I just bought a used 40th anniversary Orange and went through it, as well as upgrading the chinese to UK G12H-30's. came out pretty well. wanted to have a stack of 16 ohm Orange for the studio. one with 30 watt and one with 60 watt so I bought a new black orange and replaced the speakers with Mesa v30's. also added mesa casters. pretty happy with the way it all came out.

I also have their new 4x12 with purple backs, is a really great sounding cab!

Which of their 4x12s do you have? The custom shop one or the regular one? HG412 vs SE4123F? What are the purple backs like with the Super Hi?

My SE4123F has a warm polite richness to it, as compared to the Laney F70 cab. when you hear them side by side, your like...ok, I get it...and will walk away mumbling...I want them both.

I have a Mesa OS recto cab. It sounds great with V30's and very balanced, but I couldn't tell you how it would sound with that particular speaker choice. If it's a more scooped sounding speaker I'd probably go with the traditional, but who knows?? It would probably sound great with either to be honest.

I have a few unloaded OS and standard sizes. gunna try them both and hear what happens. I just wanted to ask around to see what the general consensus was. appreciate the input. (y)
