I use a THD, works for everything I need it to do.
Me too......but really an attenuator is only good if its really expensive.

Me three... THD works for what I need, but I'd really like to find an attenuator in the $3-4000.00 price range. I think all the drunk people in the clubs would hear the difference! ;)

.... I know- I know- thread asked "what's the best attenuator"....

It's been a while, but he states that they did extensive research of other attenuators and that Rivera is the first to offer variable ohms. Which is BS. Hot Plate, Phantom. I'm sure others. There were a few other things. Claiming how bad others were made and how much better theirs was. The Faustine is built like a tank. So is the Hot Plate.

It may be great, but when he is giving false info and spends so much time putting others down it just is a red flag to me.
I agree that Paul missed on the variable ohms. Wasn't the Marshall Powerbrake also a variable?
And yes he should tame down the trash talk but at the same time it is sales. I've been in sales for many years and it's the same in every different field, everyone trash talks each other's product.

To the OP: I've been using the THD HotPlate for a couple of years and it's been great. I find though that it does get a little fizzy from -8 and on. I am awaiting arrival of the Rivera RockCrusher locally so I can compare, but this video really got me excited:

I've had several THD's and thought they were tone suckers...just like the Aracom, Powerbrake, Weber Mass and Dr. Z Air Brake that I owned as well. Sure, it's was one of the cheaper ones but it sucks tone just the same.

Earplugs are the only answer :D

Even though I don't have much experience at all with attenuators, I just picked up an Alex for a little over $300 on the used market and it's really good. Very impressed even down to the -12db setting. The line out is a huge plus though. Having a lot of fun with that.
