Which version of the Wolfgang is the best? I know they've been made by Music Man, Peavey and now Fender/EVH but I'm curious which maker put out the best ones? Also, which are 24.75 scale?

I always thought the first few years of production on the EVH guitars were the best EVH Wolfie’s!!

In general you can’t go wrong with any of the USA made guitars!! IMHO.

Love the EBMM EVH & Axis, but the USA made Peavey specials (the flat top ones, vol only) are killer as well. Different feel & pickups, but they are awesome utilitarian guitars that punch well above what you can usually grab ,them for (~ $1G).
Never tried the EVH brand...

The EBMM is a great guitar. The current production EVH Wolfgang IMHO, is a subpar guitar. I have yet to play one that felt like a quality guitar. The Peavey Wolfgang is my favorite of the three. Very well-made guitars.

I've only played the Peaveys but to me they were/are top tier guitars and I'd take one over a ton of other high end gear

EBMM EVH / Axis and Peavey USAs are awesome guitars. I haven't played the newer Fender stuff but have not heard good things.

I've currently got 3 Axis and a Peavey, all are excellent.

I've had a few of the Fender EVH Wolfs. The cheapo Standards are really a monster bang for the buck. I don't think you can get more guitar for the money than in one of these, new or used. QC on the Fender EVH stuff is not what it is with Peavey or EBMM and the real high end ones, IMHO, are really overpriced for what you get. But you can find a really good used WG Standard for $450 all day long. When I was a kid, $450 was a lot of money and still didn't get you that much guitar.

I have a few of these and I can attest that they sound and play excellent, especially for the price tag.

It follows the early EVH mentality of "simply the best guitar for the money" like the early Kramer days.

I've had two of the cheapo Fender EVH Wolf Standards. The first one I think I got new from the GC for $500. They're $650 now. Somehow, I found a new WG case at another GC for $27. That guitar unplugged sounded almost as loud as an acoustic. It really had fantastic tone and resonance. The pickups are not the best, but for $500 and with that wood quality, I wouldn't have hesitated to hot rod it. But I bought it to leave at my folks' house to plink on when I visited and my dad started complaining about it taking up space. So I took it home and sold it for $500. Bought another when I had $200 in Gear Card credits about to expire, kept it a while, then sold for more than I paid for it. Excellent guitar and huge value for the money.

I got one of these Standards 2 or 3 years ago and that lead me to posting this thread. I think I paid around $350 used here on Rig Talk. The roasted maple neck is awesome and the guitar is such a great guitar. So, do the other mostly feel like this guitar?

For all the people that prefer the Peaveys.. is that because they are 24.75 scale? I assume EVH designed them to be a cross between the LP and Strat?

Peavey Wolfgangs are 25.5 scale length outside of maybe some custom orders

I liked my 2001 EBMM Axis and played the crap out of it but I grew to dislike the 6105 frets and the 10" radius necks. I think the Peaveys are a 15" fretboard radius and 6105 frets. If you don't mind 6105 frets I'd say quality between the EBMM and Peaveys are pretty close to equal and both are very nice guitars.

I recently picked up a 2023 EVH wolfgang Special with an Ebony fretboard, it has a 12" -16" compound radius fretboard and real 6100 jumbo frets and it is more comfortable to play than my EBMM Axis for my preferences and I got it for $650.00 used like new and it plays as well as my old 1983 Kramers and Axis except the fret dress and the Axis maybe felt a bit more solid. The fret dress especially the rolled ends was way better on my Axis but the EVH is acceptable.

Pretty sure the Peavey Wolfgang's were all 25.5" scale.
