What are the best Wolfgang guitars?

Owned a 2002 peavey Wolfgang and it was dead wood. Owned a 1998 Wolfgang special and regret every second letting that one go. It was purple and I wore the frets out of it.

I understand, but then I don't. I've had five or so of the EBMM EVHs, still have two. I can't see how the Peaveys beat them. The toggle switch position on the PVs always made it hard for me to do the VH tunes with tapping. YMMV.
 
In 1997 I played every Peavey Wolfgang in the store, took home a gold top $1400. Still have it.

I will have a EVH MIJ Signature Wolfgang.

I haven't tried the current EVH guitars, but i have 3 first year American one's and man, they are just amazing. Super high quality feel.

Love these.

What year did you buy the new Tribute? That was a great price if recently.

They are all amazing guitars, i added 6 Peavey ones since i took that picture, i just love Wolfgang guitars.
 
I own several EBMM guitars (5 Kaizen, 3 Majesty), no EVH. But if EBMM makes them in the US they're probably very good. My EBMM are some of the best guitars I've owned in terms of fit, finish and attention to detail...up there with Ibanez Prestige and Fender MIJ. IME

It was about 10 yrs ago. But I also bought a pink Tribute when they first came out and I think that was $1800 and change new. So $1200 was a smoking deal. I only sold the pink one to fund a pink EBMM EVH, which (surprisingly) I did not bond with. I flipped it locally for a small profit. This was before the prices on these went crazy.
 
I've had countless Axis' and a couple of nice EVH USA Wolfgangs, but the only one I still have is my 1996 Purple Peavey Wolfgang Std. There is something about that guitar that for me sets it apart from the others, but I am not sure what it is.

I think basswood is kinda hit and miss. I've had my share of dead wood basswood guitars but my 2001 Axis w/quilted maple cap was fairly resonant and this 2023 EVH wolfgang that doesn't even have a maple cap is more resonant than my old Axis, which surprised the hell out of me.:dunno: So you really have to go play them before buying is the only conclusion I can come to.

When you play the frets flat all the way up the neck is when you know you have one you love.:2thumbsup:

I also had an Alder bodied J Frog superstrat that had a spongy maple neck and it was dead also, I couldn't get rid of that guitar fast enough.:LOL:

Ironic for GC because GC had the Axis Tributes as an exclusive run for them back in 2010-2011.

OP as an alternative can get a Peavey HP2 as a won't break the bank alternative relative to Peavey Wolfgang.
