What are the best Wolfgang guitars?

The EBMM is a great guitar. The current production EVH Wolfgang IMHO, is a subpar guitar. I have yet to play one that felt like a quality guitar. The Peavey Wolfgang is my favorite of the three. Very well-made guitars.

Have you played their USA or Japanese flagships? They are very, very high quality. There's no reason to pay the premium for the USA once they released the MIJ's a few years back.

No, I haven't. I would love to check out one of the MIJ ones. Just haven't had the chance yet. I do know that I prefer the neck shape on the Peavey more than the EBMM and EVH.

The only thing I don't like is the carved top... On a shredder it feels like it's working against you. And it kinda feels like you're playing a lollypop, with its huge body and little neck.

Agreed, EVH was not a shredder.

I recently purchased a EBMM Axis and it is phenomenal in feel, looks, and sound. At that time, I did compare it to a USA EVH. The EBMM blew it away.

Truth be told, when the EBMM EVH was debuted in the guitar mags, I wasn't blown away by it. I knew nothing about it until I saw the ad in the magazine. When I saw what they were going to cost, I knew it would be years before I could even afford a used one, which I eventually did get for $900. And that was still a ton of money for me at that time. I had front row at a show on the Balance tour and Ed played the amber EBMM EVH for the whole show until the end. He came out with that maroon WG we later saw on Letterman or Jon Stewart. I also had no idea he was switching to Peavey then, so it took a minute for me to notice the name on the headstock.

I seem to remember paying $1200.00 in 2001 for my new EBMM Axis amber quilt and I thought it was extortion at the time........:LOL:

I've always heard that EBMM only make phenomenal guitars.. of course, for the price I'd expect that.

Are all Peaveys made in the US?

No, late in to the Peavey/EVH endorsement cycle there was line of "EXP" Peavey Wolfgangs that were asian made and much cheaper/crappier

Also a fair bit of people who tried to mix USA Wolf parts with EXP Wolf parts and pass them off as legit USA models so be wary of that
