I am going to retire in August ( Im disabled) and I decided to buy myself my dream rig with some paid vacation hours I have coming from my old job. I've been eyeballing the Mesa Boogie JP2C and the Friedman BE. I've kicked the Fractal idea about. So amp wise I have some ideas but guitar wise nothing is giving me gas. I did watch a lot of Mesa demos that included the EBMM Majesty but I'm no Dream Theatre fanboy ( although they are fantastic). This always happens...I can buy anything but want nothing and when I'm low on money I want everything. Grrrrr!!!!

What's your dream rig : guitar and amp.

Someone inspire me !

Man idk I want everything.

Guitar wise I would love a Mayones and would like to try an Aristide guitar. A killer 80's USA Jackson and maybe a Vik or something.

Amp wise, I want a Kemper, Friedman JJ, DAR FBM, Fortin Natas and maybe a VHT Pitbull or something.

Would love the old 70's Marshall S&P cab along with a German Diezel, Port City and Ear Candy 2x12 as well.

I would also like some serious studio gear like a high end Interface and Monitors.

My home studio is in shambles. I was thinking new Mac and software would probably be a good investment for me since I'll have plenty of time.

That would be a good idea to me. Having lots of extra time to tinker around and play with recording techniques and mixing. That is fun to me and an art in itself.

I already did it. Some drunk ran me down on my motorcycle and I won full policy from my insurance (that means I got 100% settlement, all of it). Bought a ENGL 530-ENGL 840/50, Bogner Twin Jet, Diezel, Custom Jackson's (2), Suhr's (1 soon to be 2), ESP's (1), 1 Dean USA on the way, and Charvel's (1), some nice cabs 2x12 and 4x12 w/ various speaker combo's,

My dream rig is pretty simple, a Peters Triple (FSM/Halo) and an ESP Custom Shop Alexi. So I'm halfway there!

My dream rig would be to have 8 amps with 8 cabs all connected true an ampete 88s... But due to space and budget constraints, I will go with my Fortin Natas. For guitar I would love to have a Mayones Regius 6 and/or a Ruokangas Hellcat.

Doug, as well as you play, I don't think it matters what ya play through. You'll make it sound great ! If ya want something different and unique, have you looked at Steve's (sah5150) amps? They look amazing to me. www.henningamps.com

I pretty much have it now but i'd love to add a hollowbody. Probably an ES-339.

PRS Singlecut > Diezel Herbert

+1

Focus on this for sure - it's more of timesuck than any hard gear IMHO.

As for dream rig, I dunno, I kinda have my be-all-end-all gear already. Now it's just "time"

I would not mind getting a good Stratocaster for the arsenal as my Blackmore Strat is great but not ideal for somethings. Im really leaning towards the JP2C, some new recording gear and a good American made strat or maybe a Suhr. I have always wanted to do gear demos and record so I think Im headed in the right direction. I cant gig anymore but I can still create.

I have Pro Tools and Ableton Live but in horribly outdated versions. What do you use software wise these days ? Im far out of the loop and will need to do some serious homework after I buy a new Mac. Just trying to give myself something to look forward to. Ive been hospitalized for 7 days now with no end in sight. I'd like to have a JP2C at my doorstep when I get home.

I pretty much have all that. Suhr, Mesa, Friedman. Done.

The EVH 5150 III really was the end of my search for the "dream rig". I already have some of the best guitars you can buy, imho. Right now, I can get pretty much any tone I would ever want with the collection that I have... don't recommend spending the money I spent, though. I have no regrets... just saying that it was a lot of money to sink into gear. My retirement should not be invested in guitars, I don't think.

My worry here is that you should be considering keeping those $$$ aside in case any further health concerns come up? I hope you heal up because being in the hospital is no fun at all.

Get well soon!

Truthfully I don't have gas pains for anything ( besides the JP2C which I want to test drive)and I have not in a long time. I started this thread just to see what tickles people's fancy. It appears most already have what they want and I appear to be in that category as well I just did not know it. I am in desperate need of a new IMac for recording and that's probably as far as I will go.

Slight variation on what i already have. I own a suhr modern frost and a friedman small box. I would love to own a custom suhr modern. The butterlsax with the matching cab is pretty high on my list. I haven't really found other amps that i like as much as the friedman line because i don't really have to use boost pedals to get the feel i want.
