Stumbled on this thread as I'm looking for a second comp pedal. My main is the Origin Effects Cali 76 Deluxe. It's pricey but is a high-end, 1176 style studio compressor in a small form factor. If you're looking for a studio-like produced sound, this is THE comp to get.
I use it for electric and acoustic and it's mind blowingly amazing.
That said, I'm looking to add a second comp for boost and a little extra flavor and am comparing the Xotic SP, Mooer Yellow Comp and the Rothwell Love Squeeze. All three sound great from the demos I've watched and each has its own character. The Mooer is super cheap (price-wise, not quality) but I love the way the Love Squeeze gives sustain with little squish. A buddy of mine is going to loan me his spare SP so I'll give that a try.
Funny how some players don't dig compressors while others, like me, want more than one on my board. I think they are a crucial element to one's tone.
