Tone Zone

Though I've really been digging the Bill Lawrence L500XL

Tried a lot of Motor City Pickups, love them all, but the 2nd degree Blackbelt has been tickling my fancy every time for about a year now, it's in a japanese les paul clone

It's kinda guitar dependent IME. It's not a bad idea to roll through the classic designs (Duncan Custom, JB, Dimarzio Super Distortion, PAF, I'll throw the Tone Zone in too now, etc.), and then you can fine tune from there if you kinda like one of those pickups but want tweaks here or there. I wouldn't immediately jump to boutique stuff.

Wolfetone Marshallhead w/Alnico II magnet full size HB, DiMarzio DP420 single size HB for Strat.
Wolfetone Marshallhead MKII w/Alnico II magnet, or DiMarzio 36th Anniversary PAF for LP.

Older Super Distortions (70's/80's), don't care for new ones. Also love the Wolfetone Marshallhead (alnico V) in my other guitar.
Honorable mention to the Gibson '57 Classic.

BK VHII. The clarity and versatility has me addicted. I don't think I could go back to hot humbuckers.

Duncan Distortion, closely followed by DiMarzio Super Distortion (might be a tie really). Also love whatever it is they put in the Charvel EVH Art Series guitars.

Dimarzio Super Distortion.

Used my Aldrich loaded Strat last night at rehearsal for an instrumental tune and all I could think of the whole time I was playing was that I wish I would have brought the Strat with the SD.

I may end up pulling the Aldrich out of two of my Strats. :aww:

Duncan 59/Custom Hybrid and the Duncan Custom.

Hey Chub how do the 59/Hybrib and Custom differ? I've heard a lot from my assistant about the 59/Hybrid and have used Customs for years.

I'm very happy with Bare Knuckle Mules and WCR American Steele

this may be incredibly boring, but i love the 500t in my Gibson Gothic V. played into a splawn pro mod. it just is a good pickup it slays.

i threw one in a LP too, and it just roars.

vastly underrated IMO.
