Cool thread.

I live in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Born and Raised here (although I lived a few years in Spain)

Santo Domingo is the first city owned by any European colony in the New World, and we have the first university ever built in the American Continent (UASD University).

It's an Island (Hispaniola Island is the island's name) in the caribbean between Puerto Rico and Cuba. We share the island with another country: Haiti. When the island got colonized by both France and Spain it was divided, the French side became Haiti and the Spanish side became Dominican Republic, that's why Haitians speak Creole which is VERY similar to French and we speak Spanish

Aprox. 10 - 12 Million habitants (in Dominican Republic alone, god knows how many Hatian there are, I'm sure they're close to 20MM), we live off of tourism, and we have FANTASTIC beaches, we're mostly known by our beaches and tobacco leaf (next to cuba's it's the best in the world according to the "experts").

Sadly it's an under developed country with a lot of poverty although there's a middle-highclass circle that's very strong so if you come here, particularly the capital you'll find ANYTHING you'll find in North America and Europe. It's a very nice country and the people are very welcoming. We could use more education though :(

Rockford, IL

I am from TX, and always will consider myself a Texan. This city sucks beyond measure.

Voted 9th worst city in the US to live in. #1 under 500,000. My wife has a house in a place where you can't sell a house, stuck in the armpit of the midwest.

The mighty Eastside of Lake Washington, a nice, short, soon to be toll drive from Seattle.
