I have played Schecter since 2009 and have been with them for about a year and a half now and for me its all about their variety of options and neck profiles. Build quality is top notch and they have been wonderful to work with too, which is a bonus too.

These guitars can be hit an miss, a few years ago I had a friend who was starting out looking to get one, we visited 3 different stores which had the same exact model. One was made in Indonesia or India (don't remember) and it was a total POS, the other was Korean and was much much better. This was the same model same everything. I hate the head stock logo with a passion. Greg you can understand how something looks can drive you crazy...... :) ;) :) ;) :D :D :D

i bought a cheap one at a 50% discount a couple of years ago and for the price it's fantastic, it plays really nicely, great neck, tone pros bridge, with new pickups in there it's a killer guitar for the money

I'm looking forward to playing the USA production models.

I think the reason for their lack of presence here may be due to:
- the notion they're cheap Korean made guitars
- the notion they're cheap guitars
- the notion they're wannabe guitars
- the notion they're not expensive and booteek and therefore, aren't worthy

I know little about them personally - probably due to access to them. I've read a lot of discerning reviews and they've had some killer write ups. I think they look pretty nice, really not that different than an ESP or the like (really). I love my ESPs, and there's a good chance that back in the day, had there been an Schecter hanging off the wall instead of an ESP, I'd be playing Schecters today instead.

No that's much better :D

Ahgggg I take that back, MRSP 2999.00

They make some good guitara but unfortunately a lot of them suffer from too much gaudy abalone and dead feeling/sounding ultra thick dipped in plastic poly finish

If more of their guitars looked like these, I would be into them. I also remember the necks being thicker than I like, from what I have seen.

I've owned a couple of Schecters. For the price, they were pretty solid.

So you own lots of top shelf amplifiers and you are praising Korean made Schecter's ? Sounds a bit fishy to me.

I've always felt that their guitars played great and were of the same quality as the LTD's I play. No issue there.
I guess I just feel that most of their designs are somewhat juvenile in appearance.
Like they have their target audience, and it's the 13-25 yr old demi graph.
I know that they have models outside that category, as shown in this thread. But that perception remains for me I suppose.

The Omen 6 and Hellraisers are pretty cool. Felt nice and played well. That's when I discovered my preference for passive pickups over actives in most cases. Man, I've always loved the Tempest though. I think that's my favorite from Schector, even though it kinda feels like a shorty. Gunna have to pick one up someday. They're definitely priced right!

Warning: Negative Nancy

Only ones I like are the ones that tend to stay over in Japan and are basically TAG clones. The fretwork on them was never as good as my higher quality instruments in terms of the overall level/crowning/fret edges, the necks were always too thick, and the finish sucked on every one I played. Also, no SS frets on 99% of them. Basically, I'm not really a fan, but it's just my opinion. Lots of people really like them.

You'd have to pay me to play Schecter and even then it would be cringe worthy over how gat damn hideous they are.

I played the the custom shop black tele the other day and it was the tits. Played like a dream and sounded killer.

That's an odd thing to knock a production line of guitars at or under $1k for...

You can find SS frets on Carvins for basically the same price. Agile has SS frets on some of their models, and they're cheaper to boot.

Exactly. You can only name two. One of which is more of a custom order, and is barely in a similar price range.

Warmoth
Musikraft
G&L
Used Parkers
Used Vigiers
Used Suhr S1/S2

Happy now?

I always thought they were alright, definitely not great, but for the money, not bad.
