As someone who started playing guitar in high school in the early 80s, it blows me away at the lack of rock, metal, etc. talent out there. We were completely inundated with tons of guitar heroes and I'm so thankful we had that. I mean if you wanted thrash it was there, hair metal, death metal, etc. etc. It was such an awesome time.

I hope some bands come up that blow our minds. Although I don't care for the lyrics that much, Ghost are great.

There is just no money to be made in selling recorded music . In the past you could get a record deal and make money and be a professional musician . Now I don't know how most people can afford to be professional musician . All the talented people are doing other jobs .

'Touring' is how these guys make the bulk of their money nowadays. Notice... I didn't say playing at bars, etc. :D

They're all on YouTube now. Soon the teenagers will have $$$ to get these talented people tv shows and superbowl-type gigs to get them into the spotlight for more standardized marketing cash.
