What about an Uber and run a pedal into the clean channel for your channel 2 needs? I freakin love my Uber and this solution has worked for me. BTW, I have a green light rev 2. Prices (used) have come down on these, you can get one fairly easily and if you dont like it you can flip it and not lose anything. But Im betting after you try channel 2 - you wont want to flip it!

shall I repeat myself?

LOL... actually, you're probably the one who started me really thinking about that. I'd love to try a Herbert, but that's gonna cost a lot more. Whereas I should easily be able to sell my XTC for more than enough to swing an Uber and therefore keep my G-System. So yeah... I think I may try it your way first and see how that goes. Thanks!

played a few Herberts - I'll keep my Uber.

But really it is very practical as far as trying one out. You should be able to swing one and off it if you dont like it with no loss. Maybe try to swing it and keep your XTC? That said, I sold my XTC right after I played an Uber for the first time. Yes, so I could go out and buy a new Uber. Get an UberKab too,... YMMV

Got an Uberkab already man! LOVE IT!

Mine is loaded with silver label G12-30s though, as I bought it empty and had those speakers to put in it. Really sweet and crunchy speakers, but I've been thinking about trying the stock V30/T75 X-pattern combo in that cab lately.

I really am thinking about trying an Uberschall. Not gonna be able to do it without selling the XTC though. Just don't have those kind of discretionary funds laying around right now. I've got a buddy who said that I could bring his Twin Jet over and play around with it though. Wonder how close to the regular Uber it is?

As for the XTC, I spent another couple of hours A/B'ing the Ultra Lead and the XTC through the Uberkab tonight and something's just not right with the XTC. the VHT just annihilated it in terms of tightness when scooped with the EQ -- but also just without the EQ engaged it sounded so much smoother and sweeter. That's just not right. I gotta check the tubes and bias on the XTC sometime this week before I decide to get rid of it. Gotta be a bad tube or bias drift. Cause the I dialed-in a more Bogner-like tone on the VHT than I did the XTC. Reminded me of the lead tone I used to get with my old EL34 Shiva. So that's gotta explain why I've been less than enchanted with the XTC as of late.
