This is true! Same goes for the Herbert and it's mid-cut feature. However, I have both and I like the mix. Right now I am using Herbert a my gigging amp and the other guitar player is using a Mesa Roadster. The Herbert is awesome with this combo and he Mesa holds the lower mids, but not into the bassists territory.

The whole issue with using the same tones from the "bedroom" volumes with a band in a live situation is the treble and/or presence requirements are HUGELY different. Be sure to allow time to make the adjustment BEFORE the gig

As was mentioned, the Diezel Dmoll might be worth a listen as well...I like the Mark IV paired with many other amps. My experience is simply that it helps significantly to have a sound engineer that can mix the two guitars well.

I was in a band where the other guitarist used a mesa mark IVB combo, he cut through just fine. In fact he buried my Orange RV50. The best mix with the mark IVB I tried was when I used a Vox AC30CC1, that was a good pairing. Second place was a '67 Fender Bassman head.

Depends on how you dial in the Mark IV, and how you play (are one of you mostly lead/rhythm?). The obvious choice, though, would be another Mark...
