Which boost to add bass/thickness to a 2204?

Had many of the others mentioned. OD1X adds tight low end, more than you'll need. Very organic boost as well.

Ever considered adding a depth to your amp. If you can solder it would cost you about 5 bucks.

If I was going to try an OCD, which version should I get?

Don't really want to make any mods to the amp, even something as simple as soldering resistors. I want to keep this one bone stock.

I had ver.3 ocd and hated it with 4 hole jmps and my extc...

The Timmy seems to work well with everything, but remember the tone controls are cuts.

Man, the Pete Thorn demo of it sounds really good.

Don't fall for Pete's demos
  yeah he can make everything sound great. All I know is my OD1X chased any other boost I've tried in front of my 2204 off the board..specifically because of the tight low end it adds. I have eq pedals, Boss, MXR, and my cheapo fish n chips. They work too, but if you need more gain you need to add another boost pedal. With the OD1X its not necessary. OCD, Rocket fuel, Maxon, SD1 modded and stock, Cusack...on and on. OD1X wins for me.

That's good to know, especially since you liked it specifically with a 2204.

All those other boosts are great. The most transparent I've tried is the Cusack Screamer. Great pedal, but doesn't really add any low end like the Boss does. And that mid boost isn't as overwhelming as an SD1 or the original OD1, but it is there. I even use it in front of my 2C+ for that very reason. Not to add gain, but just change the flavor a bit. Kinda like a Mesa/Marshall mix with the added mids.

There's no level control though
The level is controled by how high the sliders go.

Higher : more

Lower : less

I mentioned it earlier and even said what to use...and will get him exactly what he needs.

A good fuzz thickens things up for my tastes. Think SP's Siamese Dream. Thick tonez for sure...

If you're really looking to add low-end punch and thump to the amp for rhythm playing, this is by far the best solution. Failing that, a graphic EQ in the effects loop will provide a reasonably close approximation.

If you simply want to thicken up the overall tone, any decent boost pedal with effective tone controls--and especially active tone controls--will do just fine. The TC Electronic Spark Booster, for example, is affordable, versatile, and effective.
