Which cable do you trust to run your rigs?

Dimarzio only makes one type of speaker cable. I use one with chrome ends that’s an older version of this but check the gauge compared to the phono jack. These cables are bar none the best speaker cables available IMO. It’s all I used when I gigged regularly and it’s all I use now.

Still have one of these from 2003 or so with switchcraft plugs

For something that won’t be moving, I like George L. Also like if I re-route or add a pedal and need to shorten a cable it’s a simple tweak.
For instrument cables, from the guitar to first point of contact, I don’t care, as long it’s not noticeably a treble killer and will last a while. Running through all the pedals and then a distorting amp all with their own EQ’s, the cable would have to be pretty bad to notice.

I mean cheap cables arent bad and affordable cables can be good......

But the quality of a cable cheap or not makes a difference regardless IME.

Especially as most peoples Rigs on average cost way more relative to ones cables........ I mean its a no brainer and it makes sense to use quality cables and they make a difference IMO/IME for play, feel, sound and overall tone.

Its sort of like buying a 10,000 dollar amps and guitars and using cheap strings and speakers........ okay sure but why...... it makes sense to use quality at that point vs saving pennies and dollars.....

Why spend ones money on cheap or low quality cables like Mogami for example :dunno:
Damn son you really hate you some Mogami!!! 🤣🤣🤣 Idk what they’ve done to you but I’m sorry… I’d hate to know your opinion on Synergistic Research cables … wait ✋🏽 let me grab a beer 🍻 lmao

I appreciate this is your own opinion, but to call Mogami ‘low quality’ and state it as fact, undermines your position and potential credibility.

I’ve had the same Mogami cables for over 10 years without issue and they’re still going strong. I can’t say the same for other brands.

Again, it’s your opinion.

I checked that Best Tronics, their 10' high definition cable with Neutrik connectors is like $3 cheaper than a comparable LiveWire Elite with Neutrik connectors, but the LiveWire has a slightly thicker gauge wire. I'm still leaning towards more LiveWires because of the lifetime return policy, but Best Tronics has some interesting stuff that's kinda got me on the fence.

How does the capacitance compare? That’s what matters more than the gauge of the wire.

I love the Bestronic cables. Best quality for the $

Used George l's for everything for years. Switched to lava ultramafic.Definitely quieter and clearer, cleaner signal Unfortunately n/a these days but have enough on stock.

Ok you A-Holes started talking about Rattlesnake cables so I ordered one a few minutes ago. Just FYI, they have the Purple Braided on sale right now.

I recently purchased 2 Divine Noise instrument cables from CME. 10ft and a 15ft. They sound fantastic and well made in the USA. Price is good too. I actually sent the owner of Divine Noise an email praising his cables. They just have MOJO. I also wanted to hear if there was difference in tone between his 10 and 15ft cables. No difference. Plus lifetime warranty. Cables also come in a variety of colors which is helpful to remember what cable goes where.

I have and still use Lava cables, Cordial cables, and 20yr old Monster Rock cables. Out of all of these, the Divine Noise is #1.

Not quite. There’s also series inductance. They both play important parts but for different sonic reasons.

That may be true, but I don’t think the difference in gauge is all that much in the comparison he’s talking about

Plus… what’s the gauge of wire inside the speaker cab? Probably higher than the cable anyway. Lol

It actually matters a lot when you’re talking 6ft+ for audio amplifiers on the front end and it matters a whole lot for high current speaker wiring.

For example you can have the same low pass filter performance rolling off a ton of highs with low capacitance and high series inductance just as much as low series inductance and high shunt capacitance. They both play important parts in cable performance.

I equate cables to tubes- they DO make a difference.

Depending on the construction, the same length can be warm and full with rolled off highs, balanced, or bright/ thin sounding.

Use what works best for you and dial your rig accordingly. If the cable you’re using sounds great to you, then rock on.

For my ears I like Mogami, really like Evidence (instrument, patch, and speaker cables), and have some Klotz incoming to try.
