Can someone send me the tune? I can't download from Soundclick since I'm not a member.

greazygeo at mac dot com.

Thanks.

Just takes a couple of seconds to register, then it lets you download. Just did it.
I don't want to register if I don't have to... :)

Uh oh, you want to stay off the grid... ;) I understand... Send me your email address in a PM and I'll shoot it over to you.
 I think I signed up a long time ago and couldn't figure it out. Mark (Samhill) sent me a link for it, so I should be good to go.

Thanks for the help! :)

Hey James, I hope you don't mind, but I took a few liberties with your track and made it more METAL!!!!

 That was insane man, about choked when he hit the first chord

Purposely, I did mine and sent it to James before listening to the solos posted here.

My rig:
PRS Single Cut
Digitech EX-7 (digital Metal Zone distortion emulator / cab. sim.)
MBOX - Protools LE

Now, off to listen

Wow I've got a bunch of solos in my inbox already, this is awesome. Remember send them to me without the bed track mixed in, I just want your solo and if you can make the solo start at the same spot as the backing track, meaning the solo will have 10 seconds or so of dead space before it starts, it'll make it easier for me to line up. If you can then send me 2 versions, 1 with the solo by itself and one with it mixed in the track so I can spot it in on my end.

p.s. There are so many great guitar players on this site, very inspiring.

i was reminiscing about the saber/sacred rite days in hawaii per that CD thread pluto/mark y. resurrected, and hanging with mark K. back then was like hanging with a eddie/randy caliber player back in high school. zach was a shredder too and really exposed me to tone and extreme playing but mark had the structures and execution down.

i actually looked forward to hearing mark's songs and solos with that same anticipation i had back in the day when you put on a VH or ozzy or yngwie record for the first time and couldn't wait for the solo to hit. he has the musicality and technique and the x factor that separates him from 99 percent of the rest of the rock wankery.

I would love to throw down on this but once again, Im screwed because I never learned how to record

One of these days...

Mark laid something down years ago on a Jam that just blew my mind, I mean it just cleared your mind and sat there with a drool rag in one hand listening to his take.

I am so lucky to be able to hang with guys like Ralphie and Carl Roa these days now and then, it is like watching a lost art craftsmen doing his thing.

Very stoked about Curt also throwing down on this!

Ha! Too kind... Recording really puts me in my place. It AMPLIFIES all my short comings like trying to solo thru an old Crate - back when they actually looked like wooden crates!!!! I'm way rusty

The solos already posted in this thread have some nice moments, I must go practice now. :aww:

either you know or you don't know

Hey Guys I've gotten all the emails with solos, I'm slammed with clients in from Texas so I won't be on the board to much this weekend but I'm here in spirit.

Great shootout!

I'm not a metal head at all anymore, so my solo will be slightly dif. from some of you guys, but I guess it counts too

Sorry for the CRAPPY sound, but all my recording gear is packed and ready to be moved to my new studio. I used Garage Band and a very old and crappy 1/4 to 1/8 TRS cable, so that's why it sounds like that.

Very nice solos from you guys!

Just sent my take. Let me know if you got it. Looking forward to the results!

A huge thanks for doing this!

BTW, here is what I used for the track:

EBMM Petrucci -> Dunlop Cry Baby -> Mesa Boogie Mark IIC+ (Rocktron Xpression for delay through the loop) -> Bogner OS 2x12 (V30s) -> Sennheiser e609 & Shure 57 -> M-Audio Mobile Pre USB -> nTrack 6.
