For you guys using the trem stopper, do you suppose drilling those pilot holes into the body for the install would affect resale value? Personally I wouldn't care as a buyer, but just weighing the options.

At resale, I'd leave the trem stopper in it. You can adjust it where it doesnt 'stop' anything.

Stop being a puss and play that Floyd!

Can't Drop-D.
Sure you can. I play drop D all the time. Just gotta get that fine tuner screwed down when tuning to E.

Agreed.

I play in both Standard D, Drop C and switch back and forth often. There are never any issues, no neck adjustment needed. Can either get the fine tuner at the sweet spot to use that or just undo the locking nut and use the tuner head.

Not sure what the issue would be with the latter. I do it all the time and no issues.

With that said I have had the wood block years ago and that works just fine too. I love the flat/low profile feel of that Floyd bridge so I would have no problem doing that vs buying a hard tail. BUT I still don't see what the issue is to begin with. Just tune down, why can't you do Drop tuning with a Floyd?

The problem with that is, the other 5 strings go out of whack, and and have to tune them as well.

This is what I do as well!

I also use an ESP arming adjuster on all of my guitars. I set the spring in it to be quite tight on the backlash and I use some locktite on the brass end and solder the ball on the brass. I do this because I have learned over the years that this makes it very stable. The spring holds the guitar in tune even when I break a string. I can pull up on the bar if I want to....not a smooth and easy pull up but it does work.

Ahh, I did not consider the spring tension. What mailman said ^^^ or add more springs or even different springs altogether.

I actually have 4 springs I think on my Ibanez (maybe 5) that I need on there for lower tuning but they are just generic springs.

I think you can actually get higher end springs with specific tensions but I have not looked much into that.

Good choice on the So Cal. I just got my first Charvel and it is so damn awesome. Sold my ESP and do not regret.

I've had the San Dimas Hardtail. I loved it, but sold it to fund a new SG Standard, (that I returned)... Ughhh.
