Lately, I have been getting bored with the same old amps being talked about, and hearing the same old amps out there. My sound is starting to change alittle bit, and I have really been wanting something with that marshall type grind in the midrange, that just sounds really great live. I had never really given Orange amps a look at for the type of music I play (Death/technical metal etc), but WOW I'm glad I did! Looking at the Rockerverb 100, (especially loaded with KT88s), I think you would be hard pressed to find an amp that sounds meaner than that! Sure, there are amps with more gain, maybe more bottom end etc, but holy shit if that isn't one of the meanest most pissed off sounding amps I've ever heard, and definitely one of the thickest!!! It is incredibly clear sounding too, I'm sure it is an amp that ROCKS live. For heavy riffing, especially on my 7 string, I think I would just LOVE this amp, especially boosted. i heard Ola's clips online of the rockerverb 100, and after hearing those, this is the only amp that has peaked my interest like VHT/Fryette did for me 6 or 7 years ago.

I have literally spent the last few hours just trying to find out everything I can about them, and what Orange would be for me. Sounds like it would be the Rockerverb 100, or the thunderverb possibly. Problem is, can't play both (probably not either of them actually) around here to find out. Also, the cleans are absolutely awesome as well!!! I believe I played a rockerverb 50 or something a year ago, and remember being very impressed, especially since I knew slipknot used them, however I believe it was the original model, not the mk II. I just love amps with really aggressive and pissed off/gnarly sounding midrange (5150, VHT/Fryette is also very unique), which is why I think I fell in love with the sounds I'm hearing from these amps. So again, I ask, why aren't they more popular? Is it because they are ugly!?

My VHT/Fryettes aren't going anywhere I don't think, but man, getting rid of my 5150, and using an Orange to run in stereo with my UL is really starting to cross my mind!!!!

Orange amps are awesome. I dont think they get much chatter because its just a given you know.. they rock.. classic tones more gain.

I dig the Dark Terror and Thunderverbs allot. Might just carry them in the shop...

Thanks brad. I can't tell which would be more suited for me, the thunderverb or rockerverb. It really is hard to find info on both from the metal side of the world, and which would be better for me. The shape control on the Thunderverb has a HUGE range from what I heard though, was really impressed with how wide of range it has!

I am interested in them. They are hard to find to try out in person and none of the demo clips blew me away enough to take a gamble on one without trying it.

I can't remember what head I tried, it about about 1,100. two channels. pretty nice for sure, had a lot of sizzle that would fry a steak, awesome if thats your thing, I think it sounded nice and a great clean. Limited on the eq for this amp, def a different sound, which is good..

The newer Oranges that I have heard and played through sounded boxey and strangely unnatural. Those little TT combos sound horrible. Don't care for the TT head.

Seen bands using the big heads. Sounded ok but nothing special.

Just don't really care for them. :dunno:

I personally love the Thunderverb 50. Loved the fact that it had on-board attenuation as well. I seem to remember playing it back to back with a Rockerverb 50 and found the latter to be bit darker sounding than I liked.

I came really close to buying it, but a Marshall Vintage Modern beat it out- more so for the sound I needed for my current band. I would get one now if they weren't so darn expensive.

They also come in black and they made a limited ed. in white if you're not so keen on the orange color.

I have a Tiny Terror and contrary to what Bad Ronald said it sounds freakin' killer especially with a tube screamer boosting it. Personally I like the Rockerverb's a lot better than the dark terror or the thunderverbs since they are a little too gainy for me. Great amps that can do just about anything really well. Interesting looking for sure so they may or may not be your thing.

  I really agree with this, and I had a rockerverb 100,my buddy has an older rocker 30 head and TT and I cant stand them, but to each their own

I've played through a few of them. To me, they sound totally generic. They don' sound bad, but absolutely nothing about them gets my attention.

For me, I think it's the same thing with Egnater. At least with the Egnaters I've played, there were some cool features that grabbed my attention. But actually playing them was a similar experience. There's just nothing about the tone that I find more interesting than a thousand other amps on the market.

Perhaps someone could post some links to clips or videos that show why they like Orange amps?
