Why can't Mesa Boogie just admit it?

So every time and I mean every time I talk to Mesa when I have a dual rectifier question and the 2 channel theory gets, brought up they say its all internet hype. They also have told me the same thing about the Mark iic+ and that the triaxis and the MarkVs version sounds every bit the same. I have owned every version of the rectifier series except for a tremoverb and a Pre500 there are significant differences in tone and feel and tightness. Why can't Mesa Boogie admit they had lightning in a bottle twice and just let it go. Thoughts and opinions :)

Can't really comment besides I want one. Was really considering a roadster but I hear how this rectifier sounds darker than this one or this ones looser than the other. Have you had a roadster?

HELLO!!! Because they want to sell amps.

(phone convo.)

[BrentSSL] "Don't you know that the early rectos and 2c+ were your best amps ever and your products today don't match those classics?"

[Mesa] "yeah we know, those amps are awesome and way better than anything we have to offer you and try and sell to you today."

C'mon...they know what the score is. Why do you think the Mk5 has a 2c+ mode? Why was the multi watt revoiced and converted back to a serial loop? Because they know what their customers want.

Bingo

Clayspun Yes I have owned a roadster and they are freaking awesome! But I feel its got to have active pups running through it to get the tightness and attack for what I play. Honestly that amp does everything but it has the same rectifier channel voicing as the mid 2000s three channel rectifiers with more midrange punch having a more Markiii Marshally vibe to them pobably in an attempt to give buyers a "tighter" recto sound. This amp also has a series effects loop and extra channel independent reverb per channel diode rectifier switching per channel fx loop on off per channel and a100 watt 50 watt switch per channel and a tuner out I think. Roadster does every thing but get you coffee in the morning and IMHO sounds worlds better then the MarkV. The roadster came out in 2006 not too long after Metallica did their ST Anger tour and everyone saw James Hetfield using the VH4 I think the Roadster was Boogies attempt to compete with the VH4.

RJF glad you chimed In couldn't agree more but can't they just make the amps we want lol

Yep, I've owned and played several IIC+'s and the Mark V's IIC+ mode doesn't come close IMHO.

I'd be curious to hear the mini Mark 25 next to a IIC+ on the same cab. I believe the less crap in the circuit the better the tone.

They have already stated many times that the parts are not available anymore.

So they have no schematics to make reissues? I know they won't sound the same but they could get close it would be better then whats out now. You yourself said its all in the circuit board right?

I always figured that if they took an actual IIC+ and hid it inside a modern chassis people would take one look at it and complain it doesn't sound like a real IIC+.

Ummm no its not lol

It's not? So you know what's in the circuit schematic and know what's different?

Quit talking to Mesa then. It is what it is. New Recto's will never sound the same as the old one. New Mark series will never sound the same as the old ones. Different components, different transformers, lower voltages, different topology and various options. I am pretty sure they have let it go. You need to as well, or buy vintage, kike me and many others do.

I completely agree SteveK but it just makes me sad because their sound is such a big part of Metal and rock since the 80s. They haven't had a booth at Namm in years and thier amps have become entry level to high end equipment. Not that there is anything wrong with the new Mesa products I have owned 2 but just prefer the Rev F they are great amps but they could be better for such a important company. I mean they are one of the first compaies to compete with Fender and Marshall after they had been on top of the industry for so long. I just don't want to see my favorite amp manufacturer with so much legend and lore behind thier achievements retire before delivering one possibly more great amps.I feel like their amps would be better without this Multiwatt theme in every amp I mean the best amps ever made are simple designs like the Soldano Slo.

Their newer Rectos and Marks have probably been used on more albums and tours then the older stuff.

I own a 2014 Black Out Mesa Triple Rec Multi-Watt and would put it up against any Pre500 mojo, pixie dust, hocus pocus Rev F, or whatever other cosmos BS you throw at the wall. It's one of the most brutal high gain amps I've ever played. The list of amps I've had and sold is as long as any - yet the Triple Rec stays

I already said the issue that I've been told! PARTS! Some or the parts used in the older amps are no longer available. Should I repeat that again? I don't blame Mesa for not doing a reissue, while some people would be thrilled, it would be just another thing for some to bitch about. Quit calling Mesa, they are busy folks!

Not that they are not trying to make good amps and not that I wouldn't use them if I couldn't get an older Dual rec. What?

I have BEEN at Mesa HQ, taken the tour of the manufacturing plant, and talked to their people in person. Mesa is awesome and they are not going anywhere.

Many guitar amps don't get their coveted status until long after they are out of production. Do you think early rectos had this status in 1993? No, they were just Dual Rectifiers. I'm sure 10-15 years from now something will come out that is special about the Mk4, or the Roadster, or the Mk1 Roadking, whatever..... long after they are out of production. No one cares today, because you can buy them off the shelf atm.
