Why can't Mesa Boogie just admit it?

Funny thread. You can't make everyone happy, all of the time. This is RT. Even if these "concept" Mesa amps got built and there was a Mark VI or Road King III: They'd still get flipped every 2 months. I stopped flipping amps about 5-6 years ago when I got my Mark IV. That amp is gone now but I kept it for at least 5 years. When I have a day where my amp doesn't sound right, I take it to mean that I haven't been practicing enough.

What's your rig like these days?

At the moment I'm going back and forth between an early Single Rec and a 5153 with a few pedals. I have a KSR Artemis on order which should be here sometime late spring or early summer and will fit in the hole left by the TriAxis/2:90.

Sweet.

All the Mark amps are good amps. I can see why people would prefer certain ones over others. My favorites were the Mark III red stripe and the IV. One of these days I am going to pick up a Quad & Strategy 500...... And probably will never sell my IV.

As everyone knows these amps are really about the lead channel. The other sounds are ok..... But there is plenty of amps that can do equal or better. Lots of other great amps have come out.... But it seems I try to always make the lead channel on them sound like a Mark. I just can not think of a better liquid lead sound.

Funny because I had the Triaxis, the 2:100, the Studio pre, the Quad pre and the Strategy 400. I would never sell my Mark IV or my Early Dual Rec but of those I have gotten rid of I still miss the Quad and the Strategy. Nowadays I run a modded Einstein with the Recto or Mark IV depending on the gig, but the Quad/Strategy combo was really huge back in the day. Boogie has made some amps that I really didnt like but overall most of their lineup was really usable for gigging/studio work. And they are built like tanks to boot!
