Why do you have so many guitars?

I like writing songs so yes many!

They are like paint brushes. Each one provides a different sound or vibe.

Only duplicates are some Strats and Paul’s, very different pick ups in those. Acoustics, semi hollows, etc..

Do you actually use them regularly?
Do you only use few of them and simply admire the look of the rest of them?
Something else: what?
When I'm playing a lot I use them all. Right now because of my living situation that is not the case, so my guitars mostly sit in theirs.

If I only played in E std I would only probably have 2 or 3, likely a solid body, semi-hollow, and a hollowbody.

I typically play in either Eb, C#, C, or A standard. All my solid bodies are tuned between those. My two hollowbodies are tuned to E std.

I don’t have that many, 8 electrics, 1 six string acoustic Taylor, 1 twelve string Larivee, and a Fender Jazz bass. Different tunings and pickups separate them for different uses

I have around 20 stringed instruments floating around. I do a lot of recording, and different tools are handy to have. It's also nice to have a few guitars with different string gauges and tunings for teaching. That way I'm not changing tunings every other lesson.

I'm at 17. I rotate and play them all eventually except a few that were gifts. I'd sell some but with the way the used market is I will just keep them. If I was desperate for money it would be a different story.

I have 8 electrics, 1 acoustic. 2 of the electrics are under construction. Acoustic doesn't play great but it really sounds good.
I rotate them in/out on a regular basis.

I hate that question. When I had more guitars in my younger days I got that question all the time. Now, I'd rather have more amps than guitars. With LPs, no matter how many I had, I always favored one, so I sold the others. When I got divorced (thank God) I was in a really tough financial spot and had to sell quite a few important (to me) guitars to pay bills. It sucked, but life can often suck. Hopefully when I retire in a few years, I can build my collection back up.
