Actually i'm using my new Hardwire DL-8's looper function. I just recorded this vid with my Iphone. The looper is making all my short comings as a player obvious. My playing is awful but without the looper i don't think i would realize just how much i was doing poorly. My timing, note choice is really hit or miss.
Oh and as always sorry for the ground loop hum.

And here is a second vid where i try some ideas over a a heavy kinda rhythm

Always cool to record yourself!!! Listening back gives you a real good idea :D

Suhr Modern Custom Cave Top. It is my pride and joy as far as gear goes

sounds good dude! I remember an Yngwie (pretty sure it was Yngwie) interview from a long time ago and he mentioned he always recorded himself - he said it was like looking in the mirror to see where you were at. Another thing I like to do is when I'm working on hard fast stuff - I record it with a click or drum track then I play it back in half time just to see how accurate I am - that can be fun

S'up Darren. Yeah i still have much to learn but like you said this is how we learn and move forward as guitarists. Gotta understand whats wrong before you know what to fix

I hear that. I love jamming over looped tracks. I honestly don't know why I don't do it more.

Oh yeah. It's because of the reasons you gave! Doing so points out all of the things that I need to work on but no longer have the time to do.

Yep. I can see the looper helping. I'm going to try and record myself every so often just to see whats going on with my playing

love my looper! they really are super handy for ALL kinds of stuff.... tweaking effects patches, recording and remembering riffs you come up with, practicing over, switching tubes out, switching out amp components during mods, self critiquing, etc.

Can't really hear the rhythm in the clips...but loving the tone...guitar is so drool worthy....she's a keeper!

I can increase the looper volume simply by turing up the Level knob on the pedal. Next time i will try and be more aware of that

Can you tab out that riff that you play at 21 seconds?! Sounds amazing!

First vid!
Very fluid indeed.

A looper is the best effect purchase I ever made! I don't really use it for "practicing" as much as for creativity but it helps with both.

Yep loopers are a great tool. I think i may have found something that is both fun and will help me progress as a guitar player

I play with myself all the time.....but not like that. :aww:

Good stuff Jim......you really shred!
I like the 1st vid better. The 2nd video was good but the rhythm track was hard to hear over the leads.
