Who doesn’t keep at least a dozen sets of strings on hand ?
Normally I would be saying the same thing, I have boxes full of 6 strings. But this is my first 7 string strandberg and I really like their balanced sets (I just got the guitar a couple weeks ago) and it shipped with some shit old strings.
I wasn’t anticipating a 2 week turnaround

Have you considered buying individual gauges for your new axe? You can get a lot of sets real cheap if you need custom gauges from juststrings.com. No affiliation but I have ordered a lot of stuff from them over the years. The generics they have are great strings.

Good new everybody!!
My strings arrived last night

at my neighbor's house!

I swear to god if they ate any of my candy.....

i've thought about the individual gauge route, but it's normally an easy transaction to just buy strings. I bought all kinds of sets when I had a standberg 8 string with no issues. I actually have a few sets left over that I forgot to pack with the guitar, but those sizes really don't feel great on their 7 string models (multi scale necks make things more complicated than they need to be)
this 5 pack I just bought put me back $45 which is pretty reasonable IMO, only a dollar and change per string

That's what Sweetwater candy is. All of the candies that none of the children want...anywhere. Its like the Land of the Misfit Candies.
Said the same thing to my youngest as he saw me pull the candy bag out of the box.
To be honest, he is one of the wierdos that actually likes Bit-O-Honey's...

The new strings are sweet!!

Here is a before and after pic for comparison

How do these strandbergs play and feel?
I love them man. There is certainly an adjustment period with the neck, especially if you are a “hang your thumb over the neck” dude like myself, but once you get used to it, it will make your other guitars feel primative.

The way the neck fills your hand without feeling chunky is really cool.

Aside from that, the light weight and balance makes it feel like it’s not even there. It “gets out of your way and lets you play” as the saying goes. I’m sure it’s not for everyone but I do think everyone owes it to themselves to give one a try.

That's exactly the way McRocklin describes them. They seem perfect for us guys who sit and play in front of a computer. I'm going to have to try one.

What happened to your purple eight string?

I couldn’t handle the 8. Maybe someday when the kiddos are older and I have more time to practice I’ll take a crack at it again, but for now it was more frustrating than fun.

I missed it as soon as I sold it though so the search for a 7 string commenced. I’m still not sold on the fishman moderns, but the reason I was so antsy about the strings was that I wanted to swap the pickups around (alnico to bridge and ceramic to neck). I wired up a switch to turn off the onboard boost for the ceramic and am pretty happy with the balance so far.

There are definitely some good deals to be had on used ones if you are patient. I would like to get a six string too but not until I sell a few guitars first
