I know....it is obvious with the title statement. Here is why. I stopped at my local music store and they had a JP Signature Boogie Head. I had the opinion that it was muffled sounding, LACKED body and well, just an overpriced hyped up amp. For curiosity I plugged in. I COULD NOT HAVE BEEN MORE WRONG about this head. It is way beyond the best review I have read about it. I wont get into the details, that has been covered well already. Just an incredible, incredible head. Congrats to those that own one.

Happy 4th everyone.

I still find Youtube clips to be very helpful. If an amp simply sounds like dogshit on a clip, I'm moving on. But if an amp sounds descent to great in a YT clip, you can ALWAYS count on it sounding much better in person. And a happy 4th to you as well.

Absolutely...couldn't agree more. It does serve as a reference point.

The 2 times I tried a JP-2C in person it didn't exceed the clips I've heard. Wouldn't trade my V for it at all.
But if it's floating people's boats that is a good thing. Anytime an amp inspires can't be a bad thing.

Depends on who makes the YouTube clip.

Ok Reza...you typically are the exception. Although, I have to admit I really liked the clip you did personally of the Twin Jet as opposed to the one you did for Bogner. Any chance you can get your hands on a JP and throw your magic into it?

That's why I laugh every time I hear someone on here sum up an amp based on youtube clips alone, without having played it themselves. They'll make comments on what they dont like about it and what it's lacking based off of fucking YT clips.....you've got to be kidding me???

I played one, and I think the BEST demo that exists is the one Killertone did of the master of puppets riffs. that is ABSOLUTELY the best that amp can sound, and he told me it took quite a bit of tweaking to get it there.

I played one when they first came out at the Mesa store and was totally underwhelmed. just too much fizz in it for me.

I had no intentions of playing one because I was actually there to try some delay pedals and saw the JP and figured what the hell. I grabbed the nearest guitar near me that I think was some $150.00 POS and could not believe what I was hearing.

I've pretty much gave up on Mesa, due to their popping footswitches. So annoying.

I agree that demo he did sounds great, but it looks ridiculous when someone like you makes such a statement as the one up above based solely on your long and extensive knowledge of playing one inside of a Mesa store for 10 minutes....GTFO. :poke:

Tone Zone....I hope you are not insinuating that I based a public opinion based off of Youtube clips. The clips I listened to and thought very little of were/are the same clips others lost their nut over. I clearly stated based off of what I heard of the amp at the time was not impressive. I did plug into the amp and retracted my personal thoughts which before this thread were never made public.

I have heard a ton of amps on YT and played the same amps in person and never heard such a HUGE difference on what is being represented on the JP through social media as to what it sounds like playing one. Fortunately... i had the opportunity to spend a good hour with it. And yes...playing the $150.00 POS as opposed to the $1500.00 les paul.

It does depend on who makes it. Some of these dudes could plug into a toaster and still make it sound good some how. They could run through a kemper and say it's a Friedman and everyone would be drooling because nobody would ever know any better (in a full mix).

I will say though, it's really hard to play all these amps. Even in Portland

I wasn't trying to direct my comment towards you, but more towards the countless other comments I've seen people leave on here regarding a YT clip they just heard. As someone said, a YT clip is a reference point and nothing more...people should not put that much stock into it. But, I've seen it time and time again on here. A thread with pages and pages of people blasting an amp based solely on one YT clip. Cracks me up every time.

I like "in the room" clips. The clips that are amp reviews but they are playing along with their own backing tracks, i.e. Some of the newer EVH and Mesa promo videos are total bogus.

That does sound pretty damn good. Where he's mic'd the speaker probably has a lot to do with it, as it doesn't have that beamy, cardboard crunchiness that a lot of YT clips exude when people mic up.

It's actually the opposite for me, often the youtube clips sound better than the amp in room.

Usually the in the room amp sound sounds less saturated not as boosted as the youtube clips (in general there are always exceptions imo). This is either because the youtube clip poster really did boost the amp but didn't divulge it, used a super high output pickup, or didn't boost but the micing/compression made the amp sound more boosted in the clip compared to the in the room sound.

It does sound good, but what's not mentioned is that it sounds double or triple tracked. This adds a LOT to an in the room recording and IMHO, is not a fair representation of what an amp really sounds like.

tone is in the head, as Vai says repeatedly. Everyone on this board likes what they like for their own reasons. I'll bet there are also people out there that find anything we listen to horrible and awful. There you go...too much time is spent on this topic....enjoy what you like and feel glad it exists.

Ok everybody, you heard the man. Let's shut down the forum. We're done here.

If it's double or triple tracked, then yeah... that's pretty deceptive.
