tone is in the head, as Vai says repeatedly. Everyone on this board likes what they like for their own reasons. I'll bet there are also people out there that find anything we listen to horrible and awful. There you go...too much time is spent on this topic....enjoy what you like and feel glad it exists.

Ok everybody, you heard the man. Let's shut down the forum. We're done here.

Yes, the comments say it's double tracked. So it's not a real representation of what this amp will sound like in your bedroom or rehearsal space or the stage or corner you play at at your local sh*thole.

It should be no surprise... practically every album ever made isn't a fair representation of the amp(s) used.

What with double/triple/quad tracks, EQ, compression, harmonizers, reverb, etc done in the studio.

That's a given. But posting a YT vid with the intention of it being an "amp demo," and then doing all those things... that's not a fair representation, is it?

That's why I laugh every time I hear someone on here sum up an amp based on youtube clips alone, without having played it themselves. They'll make comments on what they dont like about it and what it's lacking based off of fucking YT clips.....you've got to be kidding me???

Tone Zone....I hope you are not insinuating that I based a public opinion based off of Youtube clips. The clips I listened to and thought very little of were/are the same clips others lost their nut over. I clearly stated based off of what I heard of the amp at the time was not impressive. I did plug into the amp and retracted my personal thoughts which before this thread were never made public.

I have heard a ton of amps on YT and played the same amps in person and never heard such a HUGE difference on what is being represented on the JP through social media as to what it sounds like playing one. Fortunately... i had the opportunity to spend a good hour with it. And yes...playing the $150.00 POS as opposed to the $1500.00 les paul.

I wasn't trying to direct my comment towards you, but more towards the countless other comments I've seen people leave on here regarding a YT clip they just heard. As someone said, a YT clip is a reference point and nothing more...people should not put that much stock into it. But, I've seen it time and time again on here. A thread with pages and pages of people blasting an amp based solely on one YT clip. Cracks me up every time.

I'm just happy there is another great tube amp out there to try! I was supposed to try one out at the local shop but haven't been able to get over there. At $3500 up here in Canada, they aren't exactly flying off of the shelves so hopefully I'll get to play through it soon. I am really interested in the rack mount version.

Not to sound like a jackass prick but 80% of the people out there making YouTube videos can't play worth a fuck! :D

  so true. Not that I'm a great player but man there are some bad clips.

SLO is a good example...someone out there posted a comparison to a peavey. Sounded close on the vid. But then you play through one...and you get it. Peavey isn't even an amp by comparison. Its a freaking fuzz box. SLO is that much better. But by that you tube video you'd think they were equal. Lol.
No offense to 5150/6505/6534 etc owners. They can sound decent. SLO is in another league altogether.

I agree not to trust youtube clips although I think another thing many people don't consider when trying out or reviewing a new piece of gear specifically amps is the room that they are in.

The one that I ordered will be here in about a week, I can't wait! I agree with you about the YouTube clips but I thought you were talking about the BB King, Eric Clapton, Steve Vai, etc. videos that that guy does where it sounds like they can't play. I post clips of me playing my Mark llC++ and it really doesn't do it justice, but I do it anyway.

I was just telling someone about this. Every time I see the SLO/5150 comparison it makes me think the person saying it has never actually played both. You'll never mistake the two if you've played an SLO.

It's not a fair representation. Alternatively, they could do part of the vid "plain", and another part with all the "mustard".

If it isn't raw mic'd, I don't pay attention to them. DI'd and processed, you are going to likely be disappointed when you get the amp home.
