Usually necks contract in the (northeast) winter and need straightening, but it sounds like yours are expanding when combined with really low action would cause the notes to fret out.

If you want to get by without cash outlay I would loosen the truss rod (counterclockwise) and maybe raise the action a little bit.

My '78 LP Custom is going off to my tech next week for a full setup. Of all the guitars i have owned, this one is the one which always gives me issues when the humidity and temperature starts going low in the winter. Neck moves, tuning stability starts going bad, action changes etc.

But i don't mind having the guitar tweaked a few times a year if it means that i get to spend more time playing it, than fighting it :)

I had to do a neck adjustment on one of my guitars last week to get everything all back to norm, now all is well.

How long have you been playing a guitar? If it's due to weather you probably just need a tiny tros rod adjustment. You should try doing it yourself, it's easier than you think.

Change the strings, oil the boards, crack the rod, you'll be fine....

It really is.. Just do 1/8 or 1/4 turns and let it set for a while.. Check it and tweak if needed..

I do the set-ups for the other 8-9 guitars, the three that I have to yank the necks on go to this guy that does incredible work and is very fair with his price. I dont feel like pull, turn, replace, pull, turn, etc etc etc......... with these three cause well they are special :)

Yeah, just about no relief in the necks so I am fretting out big time plus being un-finished under makes it worse.

I told the guy not to clean the funk from the neck

Same here. That's why I FINALLY learned to do it myself! My guitars have spent their whole life in the midwest, so it was time

You guys are making me feel brand new

I just do not fuck with my GMWs, the rest I do all truss rod adjustments and set-ups ya bastards :gethim: I pull the necks on my YJM clone and Charvel though but those necks are more stable for some reason  My Hamer neck I am starting to think is made out of stone as that baseball bat never moves.
