I used several boosts in front of the 16' MTL I had with great success (VFE dragon, Ts9, Maxon OD9 pro, maybe one or two others I can't recall). Like has been stated though, the MCII takes then better...just swallows boosts like they're part of the amp.

Ok thanks - I'll do some more experimenting and report back. I think I'll spend some time with the amp with no pedals, and see what it 'needs'. It's easy to be impatient with these things, but most times I find a pedal is not actually required.
