Tell me if the wizards is > than my Fryette ultra lead ?

Yes. But my Ultra-lead is a close second. It's the first amp I've like better than the UL. The Triple Recto is just as ear-crushing - but more fizz on the gain - and not as tight. RT member Flavatrocious's SLO hung well with it too at our little ampfest. After this get together, I sold my VH4 and replaced it with another Triple Recto.

Thanks for your info... but how do you like your wizards MTL better than the UL ?

More aggressive? More raw natural tone ? Tighter ?

The tone is more full and bigger sounding. It can get very aggressive like the UL (though you can't shape the tone quite like you can with the EQ on the UL). It's just as tight and has a bigger punch in the chest. It has a clarity to it as well, that the UL doesn't quite have.

Cool.... !! How natural and raw can it be ? Or shall we put a Fryette deliverance or UL as a baseline ?

It's very natural and open sounding - moreso than the UL. If you like the UL, there's no doubt you'd love the MTL.

-ya know, I get the "in the room feel thing",... But I have yet to hear a clip that makes me want to shell out my hard earned $$$$$...

If you ever get the chance, you gotta try one sometime, SG...
It will haunt you till you end up buying one! :D

BUT still retains a great amount of fat, huge, sweet juiciness that the VHT can't compare with... just my opinion

Its gotta power tranny for 240V taps ? Hehe...

Yup, I rewired mine for 240. Where you from?

Nice score thats an awesome amp indeed !! Am from singapore that tiny dot in southeast asia.... well care to share the power tranny wiring scheme ? Dont you have to change the input power fuse and the jewel lamp to 240VAC ? If it has a ground lift i guess taken from the design of the VHT pittbull for 240V the ground lift has to be decommision "death cap" no idea why when i first bought my VHT 50CL it didnt have the ground lift like those have for 110VAC design....

Have done tranny conversion from 110V to 240V for both my VHT UL and classic it was a good experience...

I guess thats true :) still not quite convienced that the VHT UL is not the ferrari of amp anymore... or perhaps it still does but then the wizard MTL will be the rolls royce of amp :)

I heard that nice sound from youtube done by rezamatrix and he is a member of rigtalk here wonder how close its like when playing the wizard MTL in person....

And with all that in mind, I still miss my old 50 watt MC[/quote]

Me too ;) Thats one amp i regret selling to you.

We should do a MTL, ARD MC and '16 MCII showdown very soon. it would be very interesting, oldschool all out ACDC ARD/Wizard with no loop or anything vs. the new Wizard with all that comes with'em.

I agree Wizard Metal > VHT Ultralead. Owned a MC I too. Liked the Metal better.
