You never played a Wizard and want the most vicious amp ever made, do you want a MTL II or HR?

Having had both, for my tastes, I kept the HR. With that said, there are aspects of the MTL that I wish the HR had, but overall I think the HR is the better amp but you can't go wrong with either

I have both . But I prefer hell razor
Both amazing
HellRazor the strongest eq possibilities of any amp .
I might get crushed for saying this but the multiple gain options remind me a lot of how the Larry’s wicked British and so on . It kinda the same idea I’m seeing on the new gains

I’m partial, but the most vicious amp in all of the land is Abaddon.

I’ve not played anything in my life that even comes close.

Honorable mention to Jeremy’s Dominant Aggressor and David Hopkins’ Divergent amps.

But if you want a wizard, and nothing else will suffice, get the MCII with the latest updates and contour knob added.

The best amp clip anyone ever posted here was a modded vintage Plexi. I can't remember whose it was but it even beat out the Wizzers.

I know this doesn't mean much without both amps being tested in the same context, but here's a clip to show an example of the HR and what I've been able to get it to sound like.

I don't have any personal experience with the MTL, and I'm not 100% sure about what part of the sound you mean to emphasize when you say viscous, but in every clip I've heard that directly compares the HR and MTL, the HR does have a little bit more slice/cut/clarity in the top end. So if "sharpness" is what you're thinking when you say "vicious" then I think the HR edges out. But if low end chunk is more important to you, it might be a bit tougher to recommend one amp over the other because both amps have insane low end punch and will easily get the job done.

If it's more about the character of the distortion, I'd say the HR is going to be slightly clearer and the MTL is going to be slightly thicker, but again the differences are going to be pretty subtle.

That sounds great. Very beefy. I prefer your MCII for it's high end gloss but no doubt about it you got that HR sounding pretty dang good to my ears. Nice work!

I've only got the MTL, but there's other (cheaper) amps just as good or better, so personally I'd go for the HR.

Someday if possible a Modern Classic II is on my list.
