YOU LIVE ON THE COAST, WTF ARE YOU EATING THERE?!?!?!?!?!?!?

I have direct reports that eat there but they are land locked and they fully understand why I can not stand them! When I have them come to CT we go to the shore and they cannot believe how good seafood can taste

I know, I know...some how I keep getting sucked back into dat place. It's like a car on ice...I know it's gonna be a wreck but...

overpriced for sure and you dont get anything.

i usually order popcorn shrimp and at all the places ive been to the shrimp is piled up on the plate..at red lobster you can glance at the plate and count every single shrimp on it..its almost like they literally have a set number of shrimp they give you.

Its all in what you order.

The only thing I order at Red Lobster (I will only eat there out of necessity on business travel) is a boiled lobster. I don't use sauces or butter, etc., on my seafood. Yes, you can under or overcook a boiled lobster, but in my experience they can boil water and time the lobster fairly well (I assume they have a lobster weight and boil time chart?). The biscuits are good, salad is typical, and I usually get a baked potato - something else that is very difficult to screw up.

Same goes for Joe's Crab Shack. I order the boiled crab pots only. Another meal that is difficult to screw up. They are pretty good for a chain IMO. Not the best I've had, but decent for a chain IMO. A step or two above Red Lobster.

If you want a very good seafood restaurant chain, then try McCormick & Schmicks, http://www.mccormickandschmicks.com/

For a less expensive, and good, seafood chain, try Bonefish Grill, They are owned by the same company as Outback and similar in quality/cost/value IMO. I usually get the sushi grade tuna sashimi (full order, ask for very rare. I've sent some back for being too well-done) and a salad and/or appetizer - so far so good. I haven't tried much else on their menu, so YMMV.

Good info...I'll have to check some of those places out.

Luckily, I've never eaten there. Being from Wisconsin, we always had fresh lake fish available. Living in So Cal for the last 20 years, fresh seafood is readily available.

Red Lobster Lobster is great.
Order their deep fried mini shrimp econo special, well you get what you pay for.
