The evh 2x12 sounds small and directional IMHO. They are best used as a monitor, hence the tilt back feature.

^ so I guess that means I need a new 4x12… Great LOL. In all seriousness would my Orange cab work with this head or will I be disappointed?

Do want!

So is this strictly an EL34 version of the original 50w and not a 50w Stealth?

Hopefully they hit Canada soon...
People forget that the 100s (stealth) was based on the increased gain that the original 50watt offered over the standard 100w.

Don't these get their tone from the preamp section? I guess I'm not seeing the point of el34's
Gain, yes; but tone is also heavily influenced by the power section.

so is there a release date lined up for these things yet ?

Im running my 5153 100s el34 through a bogner 412 w/ V30s. Sounds fucken awesome. So did the 6l6 stealth through the same cab.

I run my 50w Stealth modded into a Mesa 2x12 with v30s. Sounds great! Would like to hear some greenbacks though

I just sold my EVH 5150--3 50 watt head and the rest of my pedals and 1 guitar, and I am having surgery on my right shoulder Tuesday 17th,so I will be down for awhile, but I am hoping some people here get this new EL34- 5150-3 50 watter and do some kind of review(s) so while I am hopefully healing I will be able to decide on if that's the new amp I will get, really though the moment I saw this thread last week I automatically started jonesing for the EL34- 50 watt head, and that's why I sold my gear so I hope they hurry their asses up and get these out so I can order one and have it here at home waiting til I can move my right arm again..I also unloaded all my speakers and cabinets and found a nice condition used Marshall 1936-2-12" cab w/V30's in it,it will be delivered Tuesday and waiting for me til I come home from hospital..I am pretty sure the new EL34 head will sound good with the new to me 1936 cab and V30's..so please make some good videos so I can further jones more while recovering !! Later

Not to derail, but has anyone tried the 6534.Sounds good un demos.

Yes, it's awesome. I have a USA version and Chinese version I like them so much. LOL

In your opinion, is there a noticeable difference between the two? I'm really wanting one and if I go brand new I'll have to buy the chinese version.

I would imagine that the tone would be the same.

I did notice a difference, but I think it was pretty subtle and could have been because one was brand new (bought on one of those GC 20% sales) and the USA one is several years old. I would probably just buy whatever is the best deal.

I just called Fender directly and the guy told me he has seen one of the EL34-50 watt heads there in their test rooms, but he said he has no current info or even specs on these for what he can find on Fenders website or for the customer service employees data they can pull up..he said he believes they are waiting to see how well the 100 watt EL 34 model sells before they go total mass production, and he said and don't quote me,he said probably around New Years, not certain what day but around the New Year,so that's all I could get..now this I have said here can be all wrong,I just hung up the phone with a Fender rep at the Fender headquarters and he told me what I have written here.

I talked with my guy at Sweetwater. They had a Fender rep there at the time (or so he said) and my guy got back to me to say they are supposed to have them on the 24th.

The 24th is also the date the AMS gave me when they canceled my order that I snuck in when the amp was on their site for short period of time.

It is odd that there is no mention of the amp on evhgear.com or really anywhere for that matter.

sweetwater gave me the 15th for presale and 24th for release, but then again this is an EVH product and EVH has to okie dokie it sooooo it may get delayed

I guess the volume could be constantly cranked..most amps sound better that way.

Seems like a better solution would have been to simply include the power attenuator knob that's on the evh combo amps.

"Channel 1 is dual concentric pots" Guess the volume jump issues have been fixed.

I guess we'll wait for the 24th and hope it shows up

I would honestly take anything from Fender support with a huge grain of salt as they seem completely useless. Last time I contacted them was through Jackson to ask for dimensions on the tuners they use on current USA Custom Shop Soloists... neither Jackson or Fender could tell me and seemed annoyed that I expected them to know specs on a guitar they built

I'd be annoyed too, dealing with ticky-tacky stupid phone calls like that.

It was an email, who calls for something like that? You'd think somebody at CS would have info on replacement parts... Thanks for being a dick though

Out of curiosity, why would you ask them for that? Being that its CUSTOM SHOP, wouldn't there be choices?? Common sense would tell me that standard Gotohs, or Schaller locking or non-locking would be likely suspects, and their dimensions are plastered all over the net?? Again, its CUSTOM SHOP, dumbass. Unless you give them a serial number, or know which tuners are on the particular guitar in question, what are they supposed to do? With all this talk lately about shitty Customer Service, sometimes you have to wonder if it's not the lack of sense of the consumer, who has no regards for somebody's valuable time.
