YJM100 Verdict...

So sorry for the thread necro, but i really want to know if the built-in noise gate is in any way similar to the Boss NS-2? Perhaps the same (or as similar as one can get without getting sued for infringement) circuit?

I'm curious why this hasn't been discussed. I suspect the NS-2 contributes to Yngwie's overall tone because of how it kills off a little high end. I imagine if Yngwie played through a "transparent" gate like a Decimator his tone will get piercing. Of course EQ tweaks can compensate for these issues.

Again, sorry for the necro bump.

It's a shame Marshall doesn't make this amp any more . Drop the YJM and call it a Super Plexi .

I agree. They should have put it into regular production.

I just don't get what Marshall is doing.
The YJM was the Plexi everybody wanted, cool power attenuation, easy to dial bias which is auto controlled by tube (by bye matched quartets) 50/100 switch which actually shuts off 2 tubes, good effects loop, a pretty nice OD/boost, killer noise gate, really nice reverb. All in a classic frontplate, no blinking leds and sheet, just YJM instead of JMP.
Super cool.
What do you do? Do 1500 and be done with it. They would be able to sell at least that amount yearly.

No. Reissue the DSL. Fook me.

This pretty much sums up the whole Marshall thing. Litterally loads of messed up choices. I mean, do they way Blackstar is doing, a couple of small cheap 1w - 5w tube/ss amps, a more expensive modern series and the high end, 1000-2000$, PTP plexi stuff, possibly with hot rodded possibilities. You have it all covered.

But yeah, no way. DSL reissued and the uber expensive Marshal Astoria which was a total flop.

Marshall really is the Gibson of amplification.
