The only question is will the amp be a MV type with gain in it? If not, its a 1987X with his name on it.

It would not surprise me if the power tubes were switched to KT's. He was using a Marshall Major during the last tour in some of the larger venues. It also wouldnt shock me if it had an additonal gain stage in preamp. who knows, im sure its gonna be off the charts expensive.

2 KT-88's, small box, channels internally jumped with a gain stage and a MV. That would be nice ;)

I'll admit it, I fall under Shiny's aging 80s dude with some cash so yeah I want to try it :D

Won't be in some library though with velvet ropes around it

Lets hope this new Marshall doesnt sould like most of the shit Marshall makes now. :aww: I would only own a DSL or VM. To me, everything else Marshall makes is shit and for beginners. :
Differn't strokes for differn't folks...I think the VM is the worst sounding Marshall that I've ever played, and I didn't care for the DSl (or TSL). Marshall's reissues have all sounded pretty good to me, and Ilove my 1959RR...it sounds better than any of my old 100 watters.

That said, if they could nail some of the modded tones like you mention, I agree that they would have a winner. Some will argeue that they did that with the JVM, but I don't hear it personally.
I love the 1959RR, I think its one of the few worthy sig Marshalls ;)

cmon carl, according to you, this place is full of hacks. why are you here?

Boy, it never changes does it. Thump was right, when he said you guys were stirring the pot just as much as Carl. Keep fishing you'll get something I'm sure.

The last I saw of Thump, he was selling his Landry on The Gear Page

I guess the best marshall was still not good enough to stay

Could you imagine Marshall putting out a Jose' inspired 100 watt head that sounded like Fortin/Friedman/Cameron? They would clean up. Marshall is too stupid to listen to the consumers.

Not sure about that, not everyone plays metal all the time. The JVM works for that.

I can turn down the gain and get everything from clean to ac/dc, turn up the gain to get metallica.

JVM can do all that too and touring professionals use them with no probs.

Looks good on you though.

LOL all you want but Thump's tone is in his hands. He gets the same basic tone regardless of amp, so instead of tying $$$ up in a few 3K amps, he gets it from regular stuff, as do most touring musicians.

Lets hope they dont make the mistake of making this a solid state MV amp for beginners. Marshall needs to step it up and put something great out that doesnt need to be modified in order to sound good.

Just trying to stimulate the topic, I'm in the same boat (age minus the money).

It just seems like a pretty narrow demographic marketing wise for a player in such a specific niche/era, but the marketing gurus at Marshall have better access to stats and who knows maybe they will pull a KK (but better) and put out a semi-affordable model I'll wait to reserve my judgement. :)

I think Thump kept the Landry.

As for the YJM sig Marshall, it sounds intriguing.

they even have custom exotic wood headshells for them.

Watch the vid closely, behind me is an empty foofoo headshell......................plexi project is going in there

I don't agree that all current Marshalls are shit. I love my JVM and it hangs pretty damn well with all of my amps. It sounds incredibly good for metal and the clean channel is the best I have ever had in a channel switcher. I am not saying they are the best amps ever, but suck they do not. :)

I totally agree

Yep, I agree as well. I dont own a JVM but did get to play one and thought it was the best thing Marshall had put out since the Silver Jubilee.
