It does not help they also suppress the value of their own currency to let it continue to happen. One thing Obama wont do is call China on its own card - one thing that Romney was planning to do as soon as he got into office.

Yeah, well that and the cost of product won't stay that way for long. We're going to end up in a position where the US doesn't have the facilities to manufacture any longer (already there for many products) and China is going to crank up the price the same way Home Depot did after they ran mom and pop out of town. It won't happen overnight, more like the old "how do you cook a frog." Slowly crank the heat...
Interestingly some manufacturing production is returning to the US. I was watching this news show about this mattress company that had outsourced, but freight charges have risen so much because of gas prices that it is now cheaper to manufacture them here, so they brought production back to the US. It's a start... that and my US made amps with chinese parts...

LOL!

But you're right, it's a start. I'm hopeful.

This thread sucks. Everyone has points but in the end Cujo this is making you out to be an imbecile.

There's exceptions to every rule and different reasons why people choose to buy from somewhere specific.

I myself don't have the $$$ to try every piece of gear ever made but in my experiences generally USA has more hand crafted no corners cut product when we are talking guitars and even amps. People like P. Diezel are that exception. I don't think he has slaves building his amps however. :)

I try to keep politics out of my amp buying desicions.

Same goes for master guitar luthiers in Japan, they know quality vs cheaply made lets make as much $$$ as we can. The difference is pride.

My only thought is slave labor aside, Ive never heard of a good amp manufactured/assembled in China.

On the flipside i think Slavetone would be a great name for an amp company. :) jk

Overall I buy what makes sense. Where it was made isn't my chief concern.

I could have gotten an Epi SG, but I got my Gibson this weekend because it played better, wasn't that much more $, came with a hard case, weird limited color, and I'm fairly sure that I'll get what I paid for it if I ever chose to sell it.

I got my Mark III because I tried it out and liked it better than any other amp in the shop. 2nd place was the Bogner Alchemist, made in China.

There is a bit of patriotism, I like it when the USA gear wins out, but don't turn my nose up just because something is made elsewhere.

Sorry, you opened the door, I had to. :D

I don't think either one of my Mesa amps has much in the way of Chinese parts in them. Even if they did, I would feel no need to get sand in my vagina about it. :scared:

And yes buying American is important! We need to keep all the Mexicans employed who are taking up the manufacturing jobs that all the other Americans want so bad.

Anybody ever notice how the excessive rants usually have a ton of misused words and lack of intelligible punctuation? Kind of manic, really.

pollute the board ..really have you read some of the gay posts latley... this is valid as ppl talk shit about amps degrading them due to were or were not they are made. not starting shit just making a valid point... take evh head for instance... or the laney ironheart, or any german head.... but you got guys saying "only american made" that is out the door with technology n cost point...
then you say i only buy american... impossible when the very computer or cell you type on is foreign...just like the amps bought... I support diezel not made in america... but they are great and so is the evh head, another great amp... How many componets are made in china inside the amp?

point i was making dont knock something cuz its not made in usa thats a bullshit statement...usa has a fk load of quality control issues themselves.... Gibson to say the least!

I tried looking up clothing made in the US, and I didn't find much. But I am getting tired of walking into stores in malls that charge $85-$200 for a pair of jeans, and they're all made overseas. I think it's worth the search, though... Also, most likely your screen resistors and other super small stuff inside your Boogie is made in China. The ones in my ecstasy were.

I buy my chinese amps strictly secondhand so I'm not directly helping their economy.

I guarantee you that your Mesa amps have tons of foreign parts from anywhere from Europe to the Far East. I couldn't say for sure there are Chinese parts, but I wouldn't be surprised at all if some were. As you point out, it is no big deal, that is where many parts required for tube amps are made. It would be VERY difficult, if not impossible to build a tube guitar amp from USA-only parts.

Hmmm gibbo guitars, mesa amp(and a marshall), chevy van, s&w guns... Guess im a tad biased.

This is really all you had to say then, no? I don't think one person at rig-talk would argue this.

Don't knock something just because it isn't made in the USA. Great. I love Ferraris, Mercedes, Ibanez J-Customs, etc... None made in USA...

Tone chasing knows no borders…I will buy an amp built in a sweatshop in Kazakhstan housed in an old vodka crate if it has “the tone”.

So... Enjoy yur Bughera...

And, it's an AMP forum, so I don't know where the everything else in your house factors at all with us talking about our, uhm, Amplifiers?

I have 4 amps. Steve at VHT down the street here in MErica, got my money for one. Mike Soldano got paid for another, and I support Jerry Dyer, (Gasp!) another American with the other two...

Oh Yeah, all of my guitars are shitty American made....

And my Intellifex was made in the good ol USA...

So I managed to duck your stats... "Somehow"

And so are the 6 Mustangs I've owned... see a trend?

So It's about having the choice....Find us an American toaster, or Cell phone, or fuck off... you have no point then do you?

Both my Behringer Mixer, and combo caught fire! So MY Chinese experience is shit...

I do love the way our 2nd generation hispanic Americans make they're food at Panda Express for me though!

Fuck off. Big words for a computer. Your intelliflex has Chinese or Japanese parts in it. Just like your fkn mustang. Lots of imported parts in a mustang. Too bad you weren't around the cornor. I usually like fuck off to my face. Pussy !
