Eddie for me. Although I do remember painting Kiss makeup on a brown paper bag and wearing it as a mask. I think my guitar was a 3' pc of hot wheels track.

In order:
Frehley
Nugent
Angus
Marino
VH
Uli
Bettencourt
and currently, P. Watson

Mark Knopfler at first. My Dad was/is a huge fan and always blasted Dire Staits LP's.

But that's a tough act to mimic when your like 12 years old and wanting to start playing the guitar.

So when I got serious again at around age 15 (1991 ish) most of my influence came from Kurt Cobain, Greg Hetson, and Brett Gurewitz.

Not the most technically gifted players for sure, but finally I found some songs that I could learn

Dave Murray and Adrian Smith of Maiden. I remember watching concert videos of them and just thinking how badass they were. After a while I decided I had to buy a guitar and learn to play.

Steve Lukather.

My parents use to play Toto records on road trips as a kid, apparently I used to jam along using my seatbelt as a guitar. Thats how I got into guitar. How embarrassing!

i used to learn songs and such.. but the guy who really made me sit down and woodshed? duane allman.

Another one for Ace, at that time I thought he was the king of the hill................I was about 10 or 11 years old :D

Neil Schon and Eddie Van Halen are the reason I started playing.

and a classic

as a kid, roy clark in the 60s was smoking, it was either him or jeff beck in our house, but the old man preferred country

was exposed to some smoking players thru country, they pretty much dusted the rock guys for a while

the first revelation i had regarding the fact that rock players weren't as "cultured" musically as jazz and country cats occured the night i saw this on TV:

this was my first guitar-aware period exposure to the "mighty" carlos santana.

GB played CIRCLES around CS and sounded so much more musical...i particularly love the dueling shred moment where benson seems to purposely dumb down by sliding around on the string atonally just to soften the blow and simultaneously mock homeslice.

Jimmy is the man. Been listening to the re-release of The Song Remains The Same all week long. I just can't see how anyone says that Jimmy sucks. :gethim:
