Thanks man. We actually tried out a Helios but had very limited success, it just didn't gel with anyone in the room at the time. Pretty sure there was nothing wrong with it, who knows.

On the whole Cameron thing, or any modded Marshall, I really believe they have their place. Putting pedals into a 1959 or 2203 is awesome fun, but to my ear it's quite a different sound and experience to a good mod. Besides the obvious factor - gain - the voicing is often very different and having a preamp with lean bass coupled with a well-tuned depth circuit makes a huge difference in tone and feel.
So as always both is the answer.
