that's a strange pairing. . . i couldn't watch it all. not because it sucked, but because it just didn't seem real. lol. :D

not a perfect playing, but I dug it, and i liked some of the tones....

see, that's my only critique:
could I have played it "better"? I dunno, that's completely subjective....as you can see by the mixed responses.
But that really, in MY opinion, did not fit Adam's style.
When I clicked it was thinking, how is he gonna make it HIS?
and I think he sorta failed at that.

Tone, actual playing, "correctness"
we can debate that into the ground.

but was it unmistakably Adam Jones' Rendition of the National Anthem? I'm not sure I'm left a little disappointed in that department.

There are two schools of thought when playing the National Anthem on electric guitar:

A. I'm gonna stay close the melody and play clean, maybe a few licks here and there in context. :m17:

or

B. I'm gonna shred the hell out of this. Turn every thing up to 10, and see what happens. :rawk:


I guess if you can walk a fine line between those, you're doing ok. :confused:
 
In classic Tool fashion, Adam doing something unpredictable and outside his (and his fans') comfort zone. :thumbsup: yeah WWE is lame but I think it's cool that he did this.

FWIW, I play the nat anthem when I was 15 in front of about 5-600 people. Scared shitless! If I can dig up some video I'll post it. :yes:
 
Wow.. Lot's of hate. I listened thinking it was going to be a trainwreck. It wasn't too bad. What did you expect him to do. He's not a real picker or shredder. He did what he could.

Tone was angry. I dig it. :yes:
 
Thought it sounded good and mean. Unison bends were all in tune and i love that Les Paul.
