Hi guys,
I am picking up a Bogner 412ST with Celestion V30 + G12H30 120w.
I am familiar with G12H30s and they aren't my thing after playing them on and off for years. Great speakers, but I'll be looking to replace them. I am also not a big fan of the H75.
My Splawn 412 has Mesa Celestion V30/Celestion Redbacks.
My Bogner 212 has V30/K100 - love how throaty and full this sounds.
My Stone Age 212 has Redbacks. It's dark but so mean and thick. I tried Redback/H75 and Redback/K100 and preferred two Redbacks.
I am most likely going to keep the V30s in the Bogner and maybe go for G12K100s or Mesa C90s.
What do you guys think or recommend?
The band I'm playing with is sort of like Deftones meets Tool with a little Slipknot tossed in. Rather heavy with a lot of clean and heavy, plus some crunch thrown in now and then - ha!
My personal playing when I jam alone or with friends is more like 90s hard rock, metal and grunge with some older 70s/80s thrown in with some 2000s to current metal. So, I tend to lean toward heavier music even though I could play Satriani and VH one minute and the Slipknot the next.
Thanks guys, I really appreciate your input. I have my own ideas of what to use based on my experience and from what I like, but I always like hearing what others like to use, as I may open some new doors of things I haven't considered.
In my music room, I have a few Lynchbacks and UK CL80s, but they are 8 ohms - I assume the Bogner has 16 ohm speakers.
Thanka again, so much!
