I actually do like Thumbpicker and do think he's a good guy. He is an accountant so he is used to being blunt with his thoughts. I have greatly enjoyed both talking with him and arguing with him here tbh. He's a fun, cool guy and would make a great neighbor. Next to @Monkey Man he is my favorite Aussie.

Ignorance. When you retire you get poorer (unless your interest/dividends exceeds the CPI and the amount of money you draw down each year). You are drawing down your savings. You don't earn any income anymore That's called "smoothing". Applying your income from past years to future years.

It doesn't matter to me cause from my perspective you are a guy who will get to retire, I will not. Personally I don't want to retire until I'm dead. God didn't put man in the garden to tend it until he was 65 then quit so I figure I am hopefully able bodied enough to lug a Twin until I'm in my late 80's.

I 100% think if you came across an American on one of your days out you would be filled with rage, grab the nearest blunt object, blindside them, and bludgeon them to death. Damn near everything that comes out of your mouth points to that. There's others here that are all pissed off about what's going on in US politics. As much as they spout off I don't get that same impression as I get from you.

Anything is possible with the stock market. I can't see that happening though without the underlying reason for the current crash being addressed ie. potential increases in inflation and slow downs in various markets due to reduced demand... However I've been wrong about the stock market before like everyone else.
The bottom line is Australia will have to pay for the privilege of selling their wares here now. You can toss up some retaliatory tariffs but you'll lose.
