They charge their sellers fee, including the shipping. So folks who artificially inflate shipping to try to escape the fee on a cheaper price will still get dinged. Which honestly is fine by me because seeing astronomical shipping was getting very old.
Below is from them…
Here's what you need to know:
Hyperwallet
When your item sells, you'll be asked to set up a Hyperwallet account in order to receive earnings. Once funds are available in Hyperwallet, you'll be able to choose how to distribute them – bank account, PayPal, or Venmo.
Taxpayer Information
For tax year 2025, the IRS will require marketplaces (like Gear Exchange) to report transactions for all sellers with more than $2,500 in sales on a Form 1099-K. If/when you reach the $2,500 threshold, we will ask you to
fill out a W-9 taxpayer form in the Gear Exchange dashboard. Payouts will be held until the W-9 form is verified.
Fee-Based Payout
Gear Exchange charges sellers for
use of services. Fees are calculated when an item sells and are automatically withheld from payout. The 5% seller fee will be applied to the final item sale price as well as any shipping income. The 2.5% transaction fee will be applied to the entire order amount, including sales tax (if applicable).
