Got some pricey amps I want to move securely.

Obviously Evil-Bay, Reverb and here are are options...

just wondering.

thank you!

Yeah personally just use Reverb......

It just works and it's not half bad. I don't mind the service and stuff on there sells.

I know many are upset about fees to do business on the site but it comes with the territory this and also sell here on Rig-Talk ^_^

But honestly sell in as many places as you can, it doesn't hurt and it just opens up your market to others and as many people as you can...... just wouldn't sell on The Gear Page though due to scams this SW thing, Reverb and Rig-Talk seem like much safer places to do business IMO.

I purchased a couple of things from there and had no problems. That probably doesn't help you much if you're selling though.

I just threw a prs hdrx20 on there to try it out. Like the idea of no fees for store credit, as I'm always getting the candy...

Used it a couple of years ago. If you take a pay out in sweetwater gift cards you dont pay fees. I sold some pedals without any issues and used the proceeds for a new guitar.

I've listed something on there, but never actually sold anything through there. In fact, I usually forget to list stuff on their used marketplace. I also forget to check it when I'm looking for something specific.

I do not move much gear.

Sweetwater gear exchange was awesome for the 4 items I sold. A couple guitars and a couple pedals.

I think they add a layer of protection on paypal if you film your packaging. I would use that service again if I was selling.

Bought a couple things. Once bought an expensive rack item. Arrived broken because the guy didn't pack it correctly at all. Seriously, it was a single sheet of popped bubble wrap inside a homemade box. Called up Sweetwater's Gear Exchange, and spoke to a real person about it. They told me exactly what to do on the site, so I followed their instructions. Seller totally ignored me for a week, so the refund was stuck in the pending state or whatever. Called Sweetwater Gear Exchange again to ask what's going on. The manager remembered the case and decided to process the refund in my favor right then and there due to a non communicative seller.

As a buyer, it's pretty solid. They have a small team dedicated to the site to help musicians. Not some huge void you talk to like Reverb or eBay. Haven't tried it as a seller, though.

They charge their sellers fee, including the shipping. So folks who artificially inflate shipping to try to escape the fee on a cheaper price will still get dinged. Which honestly is fine by me because seeing astronomical shipping was getting very old.
Below is from them…

Here's what you need to know:

Hyperwallet

When your item sells, you'll be asked to set up a Hyperwallet account in order to receive earnings. Once funds are available in Hyperwallet, you'll be able to choose how to distribute them – bank account, PayPal, or Venmo.
Taxpayer Information
For tax year 2025, the IRS will require marketplaces (like Gear Exchange) to report transactions for all sellers with more than $2,500 in sales on a Form 1099-K. If/when you reach the $2,500 threshold, we will ask you to fill out a W-9 taxpayer form in the Gear Exchange dashboard. Payouts will be held until the W-9 form is verified.
Fee-Based Payout
Gear Exchange charges sellers for use of services. Fees are calculated when an item sells and are automatically withheld from payout. The 5% seller fee will be applied to the final item sale price as well as any shipping income. The 2.5% transaction fee will be applied to the entire order amount, including sales tax (if applicable).

another note,

If you sell on the site, they will provide shipping labels via FedEx. That’s less expensive than my FedEx business account.

They have a third-party insurance carrier that cuts the price significantly for the seller

They are the gorilla in the room and they obviously want to take over a chunk of reverb’s business

I’m not inflicting FedEx on anybody. If I sell, I’ll use Pirate Ship/UPS.
